Like many teams, about this time of year, they were discussing what they need to do to make it to the final four playoff teams. During their schedule discussion, they broke down each team they will face. What I liked, we were referred to as JMU, not Madison, and not James Madison, simply JMU. This tells me that we are beginning to get a reputation, much of which probably came from the Tech victory.
While they didn't dwell on our OOC match-up as much as their first game to be played against Georgia, they did comment that our game is a must win in order to have any hope of such a lofty goal of a National Championship. What I thought odd, there was no comment at all regarding their late season match-up against The Citadel. We need to spoil their dreams.
Also, you can purchase tickets that are being resold directly on their site site and there are some good deals listed.
They kissed any realistic chances of making the 4 team playoffs goodbye when they scheduled 2 I-AA games. Has a (what are now) P5 ever scheduled 2 I-AA games and then played for a national championship? Their AD ought to be fired..
I agree - I posted on the FB schedule thread back in April that I'd be SHOCKED if unc didn't buy us out. Given that the playoff selection teams are so subjective and Big10, as an example, is cutting out fcs games altogether to not appear to have "fluff" in their schedule for playoff selection resume boosters.
I also agree that if unc was rebuilding it would make more sense, but considering they were a SERIOUS playoff contender end of last year - just behind iowa if I recall correctly, and preseason top 25 with room to climb in the charts I stand by my "shocked" status.
I haven't look at their schedule but if they were a top ranked, undefeated team out of the ACC (ie. beat teams like Fla St and Clempson) I think they are in.
Now my hope for the tarholes is that they will have a 1 loss record, obviously to the toughest opponent on their schedule, JMU, since we will soon be atop the SEC.
Yeah, I think they would have to be undefeated (13-0)..
Yeah, again the Holes avoid the toughest teams in the ACC. They avoid Clemson, FSU and Louisville. Actually, if the Holes were in the Atlantic Division they would be picked fourth or fifth. They may run through the Coastal again, but the Coastal is a joke.

Tar Heels play FSU on 10/1/2016.
If they make the ACC championship game then they will most likely have a chance to either play either Clemson or FSU (again). Possibly Louisville.
Agree that they shouldn't have scheduled two FCS games considering the playoff committee's value on SOS.
Interesting that Mike Houston is connected to both FCS teams the holes are playing.
Go Dukes!

In case you're not aware of Dave Thomas's Podcasts, there are a lot of great interviews of players and coaches, but this one is an absolute MUST to listen to, as he leads Coach through a camp progress review going through every position on offense and defense.
Unless I missed it, has anyone noticed that Kyrie Hawkins' name has been inconspicuously absent from every conversation about the LBs? Is he falling down the depth chart?
He will play a rover type position. You can call it a hybrid DB/LB or 3rd safety.
Whatever suits you.
He will play and will likely play at a lighter weight so he can max his quickness.

Any of you middle-agers get a chuckle when you see this name? Maybe it's just me.
"IT'S JOHN KINNEY!!" Ah, Young Guns. An 80's classic.

Listen to the Podcast, big mention
Thanks, perhaps I did miss it. I'll have to listen again. I just heard a lot of mentions about Gage, the battle for WILL with Hollowman, but little about Hawkins or Wellons. Maybe I was distracted when I listened.

Thanks Road Warrior...that was good stuff. I also didn't hear mention of Kyrie Hawkins or Justin Wellons. Could be a motivational thing or perhaps just the result of going from a quasi 3-4 to a 4-2-5 defense. As far as the D-line goes, seems like we have a boat load of ends; not a lot of beefy tackles. We have Simyon Robinson. Beyond that there's Cornell Urquart. He's got the size and has decent experience. Just don't remember if he was suited for the interior or not. Maybe Brandon Brown? Martez Stone was supposed to be a pass rusher type. Maybe they moved him to DT? After that I see the a lot of Freshman. Hope we stay healthy. Anyone know what happened to Evans Osuji?

Mea Culpa on me, I listened to the entire podcast again and you are right, no mention. We have 3 LBs with last names starting with H and I must have gotten ..........
( I'm at the age where my hearing is shot, I either don't hear it or mishear it, I can still find the pee pot when the urge surges.)
Anyway Dukes2Space I must have been spaced out, sorry!

I agree. Please support the local paper with your subscription (which is REALLY cheap). They write about JMU, we could at least support them financially.

Or better yet get a subscription to Rivals --- Madia is posting all the articles here and as I am not living in Harrisonburg, this is much more useful than an electronic subscription to the DNR.
But if someone wants to share the article and post it so be it. That is no different than someone leaving their newspaper at the Hardees to share.

Points well taken.
I guess I can rationalize by saying that a number of folks seemed to appreciate getting the information more easily from here, so I shared it. This stuff is also shared by links on Twitter posts by the author. Podcasts are also found on Twitter and its own web site. People can go to those sources if and when they want updates.
I subscribe and have been a subscriber.
Periodically I go long stretches of time on here between posts when opinions become arguments, then harangues often getting personal. I have no stomach for any of that so I stop posting. Then when the love of JMU Sports and sharing information resurges for me I start to post again, it happens when sports happen like football season.

Oops! I guess I missed that. I guess I've gotten use to them playing an easy conference schedule over the last few years.
