Someone who has a clue: is there any connection to the timing of Reese naming us in his top 5 to the verbal commit by Zach Bryant?

UAB: "UAB was my first offer, so that's a really big deal to me. It's also close to home, and I like that, too. Coach [Rob] Ehsan has been pitching a lot of available playing time to me and I could come in and fill Haha's [William Lee] role."

Wait and see genius.

I wouldnt be shocked if it was ASU if he wants time on the perimeter he's a four in all accounts to everybody else. I dont see how he fills in for HaHa thoughi was thinking Cokley all three are good though.

I honestly think Ehsan and the staff would prefer that Broughton and Boyd wait to announce if its UAB so that they don't lose any ground recruting Buck Johnson's son from Spain Park...and Jones.

I think thats the plan, Johnson first if we lose him it could be Boyd ,Broughton, or Christian as a two guard. Also there's Herb but i think Bama gets a few since our recruiting boards are similar. Worst case scenario we lose all three or four and grab a true point guard and let Bryant score at will.

Bama's in the top 5 of a gazillion Top 100 kids and I'd be surprised if they got more than 2 other in-state kids. Not because the kids don't want to go there but because better kids might. I think most in-state kids are actually 2nd-choice guys for Bama(as time goes I think some will figure it out) just in case other things don't fall like they want. Also, there are some need positions. For example, they have only 3 scholly guards (PG-coach's son, CG, and SG) for 2017 and have 4 spots left.

Yep Avery is building something down there. I dont think their program is on that level yet so thats where the instate kids come in especially the ones who are visit Uat before UaB. I think Bryant was a second or third tier guy based on the recruiting boards from his power 5 offers.

This is how I see it as well. Alex Reese and Garrison Brooks are 2nd tier for Alabama. Collin Sexton and John Petty are their big fish.

I don't see Reese going to Cincy or Arizona St. Reese is very close to his family and they want to be at most of his games. I don't like talking about their personal lives but I'm sure you all probably know Reese's long time girlfriend goes to UAB. I'd give those two a 15% chance.

Three big things from his list:
1. No Vandy. They must have cooled off on him. At one point they were considered his likely destination.
2. No Auburn. Like Vandy they must have cooled off on him. He's taken several visits to Auburn over the years and is close to Austin Wiley.
3. No Miss St. He and Brooks have mentioned the "package deal" many times over the years and they've took an OV there together two falls ago. I don't know how interested State is now with Howland at the helm.

Georgia isn't happening. They are super late to the party. It was smart of him to keep them on his list though. Keeps pressure on the other schools.

That leaves us with UAB and Alabama. The reality is we cannot compete with Alabama in recruiting. If they promise Reese and Brooks enough they are gone. What we need to hope happens is Bama locks in enough of these big fish that they cool off on Reese, Brooks, and Herb.

Brooks has some really great offers that I can't see him passing up on. I get the feeling he is going to sign with a big school by himself. Before Reese released his list I was thinking we have about a 25% chance. Now, I say it's 50%. IF and it's a big if we get a commit from Reese early enough we'd be in really great shape to get JJ and/or Herb.

Being in his top 5 is a big step. Hopefully UAB being his first offer, close to home, and girlfriend at UAB add up to him choosing us.

Kids want to play for a winner. The tide head coach has the pedigree. When you have an NBA guy walk in your house (or even a final four losing coach) it speaks volumes.

Well Auburn still has one offer left (big) maybe.
Bama will probably build a backcourt since they have a 5 star center sitting out. I thing they could get Reese,Herb,JP, and Sexton.

UGA top priority at PG is Darius Perry.

In short we need Reese so he can help recruit other remaining four stars if we dont get him i dont think we get any of them which wouldn't be a bad thing.

I agree BigDee. After re-reading the article on Reese explaining his list I get the feeling he is deciding by the end of this month. He is going to ASU this weekend and Bama towards the end of the month. Sounds to me he wants to hear their best pitch and we are the safety net if he doesn't get a good feeling.

2018 is the class we should focus on in my book. At this point i would grab what i can get in 2017 and fit it around Bryant at point or shooting guard. Dance with the ones who wants to dance with you.

We may have missed out on Tevin Brown and Javan Johnson (both could play for cusa schools)waiting on a Herb Jones or Jamal Johnson. Also from the 2013 class to these 2016 freshmen no kid from this state has been mentioned among top college players at any school.

On the flip side there has been a few underrated guys in some classes that blew up im watching

Dazon Ingram (UAB offer)
Dylan Smith (pissed)
C.J. Jones
Javien Williams ( Blazer)
Now Tevin Brown
