Carey did say the CBs were thin today because several players were a little banged up.

-I was surprised at how long they scrimmaged. They went at it hard for about an hour and a half.

-Several guys sat out including Levon Myers, Shawun Lurry, Corey Thomas, Sean Folliard and Albert Smalls. Golladay participated in 7 on 7s but sat out almost the entire scrimmage. Deucee Turner played a little at the beginning.

-Hare was out there with the 1s the entire time and did everything including some runs. This should put to rest the idea that he won't be ready to go. He is absolutely 100%. Hare made good decisions all day, as did Graham and Maddie. They all threw the ball well. Santa was not dressed and Childers and Thompson only got a few plays each. Thompson threw like two balls and Childers none.

-Running backs looked great, Bouagnon ripped off a 60 yard run the first play, Huff and Harris both had a few good carries, Mister had about a 40 yard TD run. Once again Dwayne Milton looked fantastic, had a bunch of long runs making guys miss left and right.

-Shane Wimann may have had the most catches on the day, looked great and could be a huge help in the middle. Daniel Crawford looks ready to contribute as well.

- O-line had some interesting combos out there with some people sitting out for the day so it was hard to judge. The starters today were Max Scharping, Josh Ruka, Luke Shively, Shane Evans and Lincoln Howard left to right. The second unit was Big Ron, Jordan Steckler, Scott Topole, Mike Smith and Ryan Roberts left to right.

- D-line showed some nice things. Joe Sanders looks like the real deal and should be the starter on the strongside. Jones and Lee started in the middle but got limited reps. Majority of play in the middle came from Nate Veloz and Ben LeRoy who both made some nice plays. Would help a lot if either of those guys could contribute as freshman.

- Linebackers looked great. Renard Cheren is everywhere, there is not a tackle he is not in on. Jones and Johnson were flying around constantly making plays as well with Payton being stout in the middle.

- DBs played well as expected given that Lurry, Smalls and Hill did not play. Mayomi Olootu made a couple of nice plays both in the run and pass game. Damarius Brinson looked good too.

- Kicking game looks good, Hagan should be reliable. Ambrose had some good punts and a few not so good, needs to be consistent.

In the talk afterward Carey did not seem to happy with the energy level. Regardless of how good Wyoming is, we will need all hands on deck to deal with that altitude.

Another solid report. Thanks 81.

Oh no. Carey yelled at the team again. I hope he didn't hurt their feelings, they might not want to play the Wyoming game.

Gotta say, wish I gave the kid more credit. God bless him. Hope he accomplishes what he set out to do. Type of player that made NIU what it is today.

I have liked this kid from the moment I saw him at the 2015 Spring game. Something told me he would make it. Even more so now, I think we will see him on the field and he will contribute. It seems like he is doing well in practice this year, and I would love to see him in games where he will have the opportunity to prove himself. Go Dwayne!!
