I just hope TT doesn't go with QB by committee. That was the most difficult thing to watch and didn't lend itself to allowing someone to establish themselves as the leader.

He's already alluded to it.

The last interview I saw with CTT right before the scrimmage was that it was a huge battle between the 3 because they all realize that the losers are not going to play much. I guess we will see.

Seem to remember we had a quarterback in the last sixties who had a monster year
after very mediocre stats his junior year. 03-idea

My favorite Bearcat and Bengal. I hope Gunner is up to it. I'd like to see him finish strong and get a look in the NFL.

Does anyone know why Gantz wasn't kicking?

Strained muscle in his right leg. May be back for opener. My guess is unless he is 100% by then, he gets the extra week before Purdue.

I believe I heard/read that both Gantz and Geraci are injured. Nothing serious, but leg injuries.

Geraci was booming the ball at the scrimmage in pregame. I look over a minute later and he is laying on the field in pain. Pulled a muscle.

Tt needs to circle the wagons and pick someone at qb. Another concern that i have are procedure penalties. It does not look like our guys are set when the ball is snapped.

I'm worried that even one o-linelman goes down to injury. The lack of depth at that position group is scary.

I went to the scrimmage and watched about a little over an hour of it. The offense did not look good during the time I was there. There were several fumbles and interceptions. All three QB's were not very good during this time - maybe things picked up later. There was one nice long completion but other than that not much.

I did see a few plays where the QB went under center - which would be nice to see to mix things up once in a while.

The RB's look like they could have a good year but it was hard to tell anything since the play was stopped as soon as they were touched (except for the back up players).

RE: Who is going to the scrimmage?
I have a feeling our offense is going to be a lot like the 2012 team. In order to be successful, we are going to have to be a "Lunch Pail" kind of team that runs the ball 60% of the time and create some turnovers on defense. We had a lot of grind it out kind of games where the scores were 27-24, 29-23, 27-10, etc. (the 48 pts against Duke in the Belk Bowl was anomaly- please we scored 14 in the last minute).

Looking back we only averaged 28 passes a game that season and that seems to be the proximity they will go for this season.

Yeah, the offense looked really bad. Was hard to see what we really have in terms of our running game with Tion and Boone wearing yellow jerseys. When the other backs were running they had trouble moving the ball forward.

I thought all of the QBs looked inaccurate. Like CTT said in the interview, they were all overthrowing. Never really saw an accurate pass thrown. The deep balls down the sideline were all three yards out of bounds and into double coverage.

And those stretchy things Gunner wears on his forearms really bother me for some reason. Don't really know why, but they do. 07-coffee3

RE: Who is going to the scrimmage?
I've said it for at least the last 2 years, Alex Thomas is far and away the best cornerback on the team. How in the world he doesn't start over Coleman and Stephens is one of the most baffling personnel decisions I've ever seen.

And I agree with some of the other posters about the OL. They are in big-time trouble there if they have any injuries at all, especially at Tackle. That unit looks rough right now with the starting unit, it would be scary bad if they lost anyone in that first group.

I don't know what it was but Darren Hiller couldn't recruit an offensive tackle to save his life. I used to bring this up every recruiting cycle. We are pretty loaded at guard, but all the tackles we have are freshmen/sophomores or 1st year JUCO's who aren't ready to step in right away.

In addition to the issues in the passing game, we are going to need to run more jus to protect the quarterback's blind side during passing plays.

No question. This is a run first team all the way with all the issues up front. OT recruiting has been horrible the last 3-4 years. It seemed like they were bringing in TE's hoping they'd evolve into OT's or something, because they certainly didn't do a good job landing true OT prospects during that time. I sure hope that changes with the new OL coach.

I hope the new OL coach sticks around long enough to realize that impact. Hopefully moving into the Big 12 will help us retain some coaching talent.

^^ I think he is here as long as Tubs is the coach. Also, Grimes' son is the TE coach here. I have to think JB Grimes is enjoying living in the same town as his son, daughter-in law and grandchild.

Awesome. Tubs should advertise this as a retirement spot for all coaches who once were at P5 schools. Can't believe so many people still believe in this guy even after 3 years of a really unwatchable product.

He recruited ok. Definitely identified the right guys and got commitments. A lot of them decommitted at the 11th hour, however.

I think this staff's decision to go with JUCO offensive linemen has started a nasty depth cycle. It normally does.
