RE: Who is going to the scrimmage?
Trail was the best QB, but I don't see a redshirt freshman getting the nod over a redshirt senior.

WRs has trouble getting separation.

DTs had difficulty holding their ground and getting penetration.

OL looked good. OL depth is questionable.

TEs looked good.

QBs are very competitive, but again I would rate them Trail, Kiel, Moore. Moore again showed a lack of ball control and an inability to read the safeties, which will result in turnovers. He should be the 3.

RBs looked very good. Bransbauch is the solid 3 in my eyes, he has a very good & quick first two steps. No top end speed, but he can grab 4 yards before you blink. Tion and Boone are the obvious 2 & 1.

Backup DEs showed some real spark. I think we're OK at that spot.

All in all, I think we can win 9 if things go well. It's not a great team, but it's good. If we can avoid big penalties and turnovers (unlike last year) we'll be OK.

Agree with everything except the solid number 3 (Bransbauch). Not that he has not played great rather Buckley also looks pretty good. On another note, several players on the team had skirmishes. Holloway got into it with Arguello and Boose v. Clements. Not sure if this is good (moxy) or bad (undisciplined).

What kind of turnout was there? Wasn't too hot for a change today which had to help some.

Maybe 500 tops if I had to guess. A lot of people moving around so it was hard to tell.

Yeah, 500 - 1,000. Not much. I enjoyed it, though.

RE: Who is going to the scrimmage?
Not sure why they called it fan "fest". Realize they didn't want to do inflatables because of the rain potential but they didn't do squat for the kids. Brought my girls from Dayton and there was zilch for them. Tons of kids there. What a shame.

It was a scrimmage and autograph signing. That was it. Tion looked quicker. The weight loss has done him good. I noticed how well the defense swarmed. There were always three guys there to make a tackle. Gunner didn't impress me at all, especially being a senior. Bansbach has a knack for making something outta nothing.

It was even better after the music ended. I liked the way it was formatted. Put the quarterbacks at different areas of the field for example redzone and see how they do.

I did like it being in nippert. Even with less than a thousand it was cool. Hope the logo in the middle of the field blends better by game time. Worried about the soccer to football back and forth.

Thanks for the reports and making the effort to attend the scrimmage rose, KCat, Dannyboy, RedRocker, AeroCat and anyone else that was there. 04-cheers

Disappointed to hear about Gunner's play but I'll file it away for now that it was only a scrimmage. Lots of practices and scrimmages to go...

I found myself rooting for Gunnar and against Trail at a certain point in the scrimmage. I did not want to see Gunnar lose. He seems like a very likable person. In the end, I decided that Gunnar has had every opportunity available. I do not know what went wrong in the winter and the extent of the spring injury, but maybe it is time to give someone else a chance at first team for the sake of continuity. Gunnar still has opportunity to overtake the starter, he just may have lost the catbird seat.

I was curious how the new secondary looked, with the new coach at the reigns.
I imagine the run game is pretty decent, not sure what to expect through the air though.

RE: Who is going to the scrimmage?
We are moving to a run first offense. We don't need a qb that is going to throw the ball all over the place all the time, all we need is a steady qb that manages the game and doesn't beat us with int's/bad decisions/etc. I don't care if its Trail, Moore, or Kiel, the just need to be steady.

Each of the QB's has warts:
Kiel winning the job scares me for multiple reasons:
-he left the team last year before the bowl with no explanation to the team and I wonder if there are trust issues there now
-he wants to be a pro qb and so probably that with combo of last years disaster of a season feels like he has a lot to prove (he does) and so will force things in an offense that it isn't necessary
-i grew tired of him throwing into triple coverage last year...will he do that again this year regularly?

We don't need flashy at qb this year, we need steady.

Moore:
-Tends to hold the ball too long because he is indecisive a lot it seems. This leads to either forced throws/INT's or sacks.

Trail
-No experience in an ncaa D1 game

At least I consistently spell it wrong.

Even if Trail is better than Gunner, I seriously doubt TT would have the cajones to bench Kiel.

I just hope TT doesn't go with QB by committee. That was the most difficult thing to watch and didn't lend itself to allowing someone to establish themselves as the leader.

I am going to predict it will be Kiel and he will have an absolute monster year running this new offense.

Seem to remember we had a quarterback in the last sixties who had a monster year
after very mediocre stats his junior year. 03-idea

He's already alluded to it.

I'd bet the whole team knows why he left the team last year and support him coming back and redeeming himself.

You make valid points otherwise though. He scares me too because he takes too many unnecessary chances. But the guy is a gamer and tough as nails. I'm betting he has a good year and the coaches are preaching to him about game management.
