Entertaining ball for an exhibition game.

#SunshineSteve predicts Lee is ready for a BIG season.

RE: Unofficial MBB Bahamas Games
I did an Internet search for 'Providence Storm'.

They lost by 3 to FGCU. By 15 to UNLV.

This is EMU's first summer game while the Storm has played a few others.

We'll be fine.

EMU win something like 82- 76. Only saw about 4 minutes. Hard to watch from a single camera positioned at the top of the gym. Difficult to tell who's who.

Surprising. We were up like 17 or 18 when I turned it off. Not sure what happened.

We substituted. Everyone who made the trip got a ton of minutes.

They really started dropping some bombs. Lot of 3 pointers. Wish we had a box score.

Seems we had some pushing and shoving which the camera cut away from.

Why did they cut away? Is this considered "Children's Programming" in Nassau?

BTW, Murphy put the regulars back in after the Storm stormed back during the latter part of the game and that stopped the run (by the Storm).

I'll re-watch the game.

As indicated earlier, I was impressed to see LWH take a trey and make it. Think he tried one more later. It looked pretty good but didn't go in.

Nobles shot and made a trey early.

If these guys can shoot say 25 - 30% behind the arc that will be good. I don't count on either to be 3-point shooters.

As is the case in basketball, the more players who can shoot behind the arc, the more it stretches out the defense and makes them cover side to side.

RE: Unofficial MBB Bahamas Games
Bigs who can stretch the floor are a luxury we've never had under Murphy. If he utilizes them properly, it will make life easier for Thompson and our guards as well.

My one concern is, and has always been, blowing leads. I've lost count the number of times where we've been up by double digits at some point and lost the game. I'm one of Murphy's biggest defenders, but this HAS to change if we are to make any noise in this league. We probably have our most talented and athletic team in a very long time, and I would hate for it to be wasted with poor offensive execution down the stretch. Here's to hoping Murph has learned his lesson.

Agree, 100%, Sam.

One thing about x-hibition games:

The team was in control almost all the way and Murphy played 10 players and all got maybe nearly equal minutes (wish we had box scores for games like this).

This is the way it should be during a SUMMER X-HIBITION game.

Now, it is true that Storm made a big run and Murphy had to bring Lee, JT4, etc. back to preserve the win.

Was what we saw an artifact of an 'unimportant' x-hibition game OR a return to what we've seen in the past????

I feel good that the competition had played other D-I teams very tough. This wasn't a bunch of players recruited from the intramural program at the local university.

You mean unlike some of the teams on our regular home schedule?

I thought we had the most athletic team in the MAC last year in terms of pure athletic ability and we finished a bit over .500. Hopefully Thompson will play defense more aggressively now that we have some backups. I'm hoping for more maturity and leadership from Thompson this coming year. Steele plays physical as well but we don't need him to get cheap fouls as well not with a 10 person team.

We got eaten alive by bigger teams last year. Having Steele, Madray, and even LWH will absolutely help take defensive pressure off of Thompson (he looked comfortable on the wing of the zone yesterday). Steele especially...we didn't have a true center last season. The nightmares of Isaiah Johnson running straight through undersized guys playing out of position are hopefully over.

Agree. I did see some other monsters in our closest from last year while rewatching the game today. Mangum still with poor shot choices, definitely a quantity over quality shooter. Still need to rebound better, especially now with more bigs. Don't have the numbers but it seemed free throw percentage wasn't the greatest.

box score, box score, box score... :)

Bad news:

I think the box score has more holes than Swiss cheese.

LWH and Nobles each had a trey, but not according to the box score.

Game turned sloppy after EMU went out to a big lead.

LWH hit another trey. Steele looks like a skilled big man; agile, appears to have good hands, etc.

Dear Friends,
Have to agree with steve, very sloppy. The team defense looks good. Nice hustle. 48-34 at half, Eastern.

RE: Unofficial MBB Bahamas Games
EMU 48, Knights 34 at the half. Is this the team which Akron beat last week by around 15?

Team played much, much better when JT4 came back in.

LWH has shown me some good skills. He'll help up front. Does a lot of things.

Team looks very deep.
