The debate over trade in American history
Anyone find it kind of interesting how the issue of free trade vs. protectionism has stood the test of time and is still being debated two centuries since the passing of the Dallas tariff? Plenty of old-timey debates over national banks, slavery, etc. have come and gone, even if a lot of underlying themes remain. But I just found it interesting how the trade issues have remained as the years have passed from the Tariff of Abominations to the late 19th century to today, no doubt in part to technological advances keeping it a lot more relevant than the likes of commodity-based currencies.

RE: The debate over trade in American history
Well, the argument predates the United State in general.
