I'd like to see someone timeline the chrome helmets, I'm not buying this claim I've seen a few times. At minimum, Oregon had helmets with chrome elements(wings?) on them before Western's chrome dome.

I've never cared for them personally.

I beleive Oregon did them the year after us

Google says Oregon in the 2012 Rose Bowl was the first chrome helmet. No evidence of WKU wearing chrome until 2013 season.

I think we did full season first. I thought Oregon was first also.

Oregon was first team to wear chrome helmets. But is was for 1 game and it was their 2012 bowl game. Oregon has enough helmets to wear a different helmet almost every week of the season.

WKU was the first to make the chrome helmet a weekly primary helmet and not a specialty helmet. Which is why I said first to make it a full time helmet.

Must be the offseason, we talking about helmets man!

Well I did a search and couldn't come up with anything definitive.

But as I suspected, it appears Western was not first, but continue to spread misinformation.

I'll just leave this here. By the way, the conference takes a beating in this meaningless "Top 10".

Once again it appears you need reading comprehension. Oregon was first to wear a chrome helmet in their bowl game. WKU was first to make chrome helmets a full time helmet literally the following season.

I stand corrected. Rutgers did have them as well in 2013. Although they had multiple other helmets they used also. But they were the first team to wear them in non bowl games.

I just remember there being some type of publication that we were the only team to wear chrome in as a full time ever game helmet. I could be mistaken.

Thanks for pointing out Rutgers though.

Rutgers debuted their chrome helmets throughout the 2012 season.

As evidence, here are photos from their 2012 season against USF and Pitt.



WKU wasn't even first in 2013.

• Rutgers wore their chrome helmet in their season opener on August 29, 2013 at Fresno State.
• WKU debuted their chrome helmet in their season opener on August 31, 2013 against Kentucky.
  

You were a full year behind Rutgers, and even then, you weren't even first in 2013 season.

I think you just proved WKU is the Rutgers of C-USA.
