Thanks for posting. I will admit I am mildly concerned with stopping Allen given his mobility for a guy his size. I did not realize he went down against EMU year. I am guessing if he made it the whole way Wyoming probably wins that game.

I think this game will end up being pretty high scoring. I still like the Huskies to prevail but expect this one to stay reasonably close. NIU may even go down early and have to fight back. I would love for them to come out firing on all cylinders but with turnover at both coordinator positions, the usual roster churn, and being on the road I could see NIU taking a couple series to get rolling.

It doesn't seem like we ever start out firing on all cylinders, for whatever reason.

I had a dream last night that the Huskies lost an exhibition game to a Chicago high school team 24-17. I woke up and went to the bathroom to get rid of the bad feeling caused by that dream (nightmare).

It seems like Wyoming gets lots of coverage from the local (and state) media. It helps when you're the only game in town. We get coverage in the DeKalb media (newspaper and radio) almost daily during the season, but the Chicago media treats us as outcasts. Chicago is pro sports first, high school second, and college third (well, except for Notre Dame and, to a slightly lesser extent, Illinois and Northwestern). As a "small" school from a "small" conference (in their myopic vision), we get the little coverage we get, and that's it. Always was like that and always will be (yes, I am sticking with the word "always".)

University of Wyoming has the fortune of being the only four-year degree-granting institution of higher learning in the state of Wyoming. As such, it gets abundant support from both the public and private sector. Most of the new athletic facilities built over the past 10 years have been build with a 100 percent state match to private donations which makes it easier to build good facilities. With the recent downturn in the energy industry it's going to be more difficult to get funds from both sectors, but at the moment UW is sitting well situated with modern facilities. In fact, they will soon break ground on a new $44 million High Altitude Performance Center that will bring state of the art training facilities to all our athletic teams.

Hah! Not only do we not get a public sector match, we don't even get all of the funds allocated to us from General Revenue Funds whenever there has been a budget. And, it's somewhat rare there has been a state budget as of late. The State of Illinois is/should be close to bankruptcy, and all public universities in the state are hurting badly. But, hey, our politicians are rich and have super platinum insurance plans!

For one, I live in Virginia. Two, it's a nod to the famous western novel of the same name by Owen Wister. In that book the the main character is a former confederate soldier from Virginia who was the foreman of the Sunk Creek Ranch outside of Medicine Bow, Wyoming. The book has been made into several movies and it was a TV series in the 60's starring James Drury as The Virginian.

Nice!, now what they need to do is put a few tents and tables under that thing and charge people 4 times the price of a good seat to have access to a cash bar. 05-stirthepot
