As a representative of the group of which you speak, let me remind you that folks that don't support Trump don't necessarily support Clinton either.

She is bringing some over to her side, but even if they don't and they were planning on voting for Trump and now aren't then that is a positive for Clinton.

By the same token, a lot of Democrats will be voting for Trump. Thi isn't just a one way street.

I don't think there will be many Democrats voting for Trump. Polls are indicating she is getting over 90% of the D vote. Of course things can change.

Where did you get your numbers? I am seeing 20% to 20% each way.

It is in the polls. The new Bloomberg poll has Clinton getting 94% of Democrats, including 93% of the Sanders voters. Trump is getting 87% of Republicans. That has been similar to what I've seen in the other polls as well.

Found it, but that poll doesn't say that those 6% of democrats and 13% of republicans will be voting for the other party's nominee. I might be wrong though.

94% of Democrats is significantly more than 87% of Republicans. Remember Ds outnumber Rs. Trump needs more of his party and a higher % of unaffiliated than Clinton needs to win. Not voting for Trump, even if they don't vote for Clinton is a positive for Clinton.

This hold true if the election was based on popular vote, which is not. Also, more independents lean republican than democrats, so with your logic, the independent vote would be won by Trump.

Just answering the question. I'd like to see the electorate not so divided on race and gender, but many smart people in the republican party haven't been able to move their party towards a more inclusive message. Trump's message isn't very inclusive and he is thus very limited on who he can attract.
So there is nothing wrong with white males without a college degree?

It is fairly consistent on a state by state basis. Also the popular vote would have to be very, very close for the popular vote not to reflect the same winner as the electoral.

Trump would have to take the unaffiliated vote by a substantial margin for that to swing the election in his favor. I can't speak nationally as to the tendencies of the unaffiliated but in NC in 2012 they were evenly split between Ds but not registered as such, Rs but not registered as such, and totally independent.

Well polls are snapshots in time but they provide important information. Ignore them at your own peril.
