It is in the polls. The new Bloomberg poll has Clinton getting 94% of Democrats, including 93% of the Sanders voters. Trump is getting 87% of Republicans. That has been similar to what I've seen in the other polls as well.

I'd like to see the electorate not so divided on race and gender, but many smart people in the republican party haven't been able to move their party towards a more inclusive message. It is fairly consistent on a state by state basis. Also the popular vote would have to be very, very close for the popular vote not to reflect the same winner as the electoral.

Trump would have to take the unaffiliated vote by a substantial margin for that to swing the election in his favor. I can't speak nationally as to the tendencies of the unaffiliated but in NC in 2012 they were evenly split between Ds but not registered as such, Rs but not registered as such, and totally independent.
