Little league World Series
I don't think I've ever seen a Tennessee team in it.
This team is from goodlettsville.
Currently beating Bridgeport West Virginia.

South Nashville and Goodlettsville have both represented the Southeast Region in Williamsport in recent years.

You are correct. I was informed about my obvious missing of this same goodlettsville program in the finals 5 years ago. Weird cause I usually never miss the LLWS. Must have been a busy year for me.
I just remember growing up and being told we didn't play in the same organizations that went to or had the chance to play in the LLWS
Thanks for your post.

I'm a huge fan of the LLWS and now that I live in Philadelphia, I've had the chance to drive over to Williamsport a couple of times to watch the games live. The atmosphere and the quality of play are evident on television, but so much more so when you see it live.

Correct. Little League Baseball is a recreational baseball organization. To my knowledge, there aren't any Little League affiliated divisions or leagues in Shelby County.
Although you'll see some really good players in the LLWS, those teams don't compare from top to bottom to competitive baseball teams. Competitive teams play in a variety of different tournaments and national competitions of their own, just none that are promoted or have the tradition that the LLWS has.
Long story short, LLWS is fun to watch. But those teams would probably lose to the better competitive teams.

There is a Memphis LL, Ellendale LL, and I think one in Arlington. It is what it is.

Agree with most of your thoughts. I will add that LLWS has always been more about playing for "fun" rather than playing competitively. That doesn't mean LLWS players don't play to compete...the emotions they express (win or lose) show that they definitely do. I played LL in rural middle Tennessee 100 years ago and our teams were not very good, but those summers remain some of my fondest memories.

They would lose at least 9 out of 10 against any average competitive team in Memphis

Donelson Post 88(in Nashville) made the Southeast Regional Final in 1962. I watched from the bench that game, lol.

Watched it in the office this afternoon...fun game. Now I've got an even better reason to go back to Williamsport next weekend.

Tennessee team was a walk off winner tonight 3-2. Fun game to watch no matter the age or level. Glad to see the strike zone was a little more consistent. Some of the umps in the regionals seemed to be trying to out do Leslie Nielsen. I'm all for helping young pitchers, but my gosh, the hitter has to at least be able to touch the pitch.

That 280 foot homer last night would have been a routine fly ball in real baseball. Anyway, in some communities LL is the only option. Parents seem to me to be better behaved than competitive parents--but it is television. Having coached rec and competitive, there is nothing like rattling a pitcher by sending runners on third to steal home. Doesn't happen in LL.

For a 12 year old kid 280 feet is impressive.
