Meaning for the next two years the men's team will be more loaded that a baked potatoe. Interesting that Steve Bell , TJ or Jeff McKinney have zero comments regarding this.

Me and a few posters have been saying: We need another SF. We need another SF...

Well, here he is...

I assume he is eligible and would be player #12 (which is enough as we have what 3 sitouts bringing the total # to around 15).

Isn't he class of 2016? Wouldn't he just be an incoming freshman?

Yes. Class of 16. But he signed with Northeastern so he is a transfer to EMU. No idea what that means to eligibility for this season.

I believe he would need to get a hardship waiver from the NCAA since he signed a NLI. Examples of hardship could be "illness of the student, illness or death of a parent or financial hardship of the student's family which prevent the student from attending the signing institution". According to this he would need to sit out a year unless granted a waiver by the NCAA. http://www.nationalletter.org/frequently...lease.html

That's what I thought. Unless he gets the waiver this will basically be a red shirt year for him.

RE: Ty Groce Transferring to EMU
I can't get to that site.

IF Ty signed the LOI, but was released before attending NU, then his signing was a 'non-event.'

If Ty signed the LOI and started school and the summer drills, then I'd GUESS he'd have to sit out a year.

I think the NCAA is really trying to tighten up on hardship transfers.

Hopefully someone in the basketball world (high school, college, recruiting, etc.) knows.

Yep, if everything holds our 2017 'recruiting class' (which are mostly transfers) is:

Jackson, Harris, Minnie, Groce, and (presumably) Epps.

That is one superb MAC recruiting class...

I believe Groce will redshirt so four of the five players will be very experience in collegiate ball.

Still thinking aloud do we still have one for 2017 at the true point guard position to back up Jackson?

I assume Lee could move behind Toney at PG.

We could see a 3-man rotation at the two guard slots. Eighty minutes for 3 players.

Bond may need to give Murphy minutes at PG too.

Oops, I messed up again...

Bond is still available as a PG if we have depth at SF (which we will).

EDiT:

I'm not fully engaged in basketball (it is August), but I could see Nobles backing up Bond at SF (even though Nobles isn't a natural SF) allowing him to get some minutes at PG.

So I see a 3-guard rotation with Bond being the fourth.

Have you seen the Top 144 thread on the main MAC forum?
http://csnbbs.com/thread-782737.html

I believe they are down to the top 94 and a few MAC teams, including EMU, have not been mentioned (Buff and Akron included). Looks like a few folks are assuming EMU is below 144 and Buff and Akron are in the top 100.

It's just a stupid off-season poll but it will be interesting to watch where they rank EMU and how the rest of the pretentious MAC reacts if they are in the top 100.

I've see the thread and no I honestly don't think we'll be mentioned. This is the year hopefully we prove the naysayers wrong. No one gives this program respect, it needs to be earned. This is the year I hope that we earn it bigtime.

Hm, Ty Groce twitter had EMU on it and its gone. My gut tells me that both Toledo and Duquesne are making the push to get Groce right now. Lets see wait to see if Groce actually enrolls at EMU in the fall.

I'm not sure that he's in that picture but I do know that he transferred to EMU.
