RE: Ty Groce Transferring to EMU
Twitter posts suggest that he wanted to come home.

One of the most difficult things a 17 or 18 year old needs to do is determine IF he (or she) is ready to leave the nest.

Or how far from home?

I'm not sure that he's in that picture but I do know that he transferred to EMU.

The picture is from Ty's twitter post.

True, but it doesn't appear he is in it. Don't know when the photo was taken but I'd be surprised if he can do anything with the team until he is officially enrolled as a student this week. Remember last week he wasn't officially in classes...

The idea is normally to get the kids in school for the summer so they can condition, do drills, etc.

By time Groce was released by Northeastern I assume the last summer session was already in progress.

A recruiting guru indicated to me privately that Ty may sit out this year.

As we have been posting EMU could have four sitouts, PG, Jackson; SG/SF Harris; SF Groce; SF/PF Minnie.

Epps would be a SG recruit. Need one more guard, esp. a combo guard. Someone like Lee who is a SG but has strong ball handling skills.

Thanks for sharing, 79. Reassuring he is still transferred.

Also, I think that is Bond in the front. Amazing how easily he is palming the ball. That kid has lots of skills. Hope he puts it together this year to dominate. And Lee for that matter as well. If those two play to their potential coupled with Thompson. That is a GREAT core!! And a ton of other solid players to compliment.

Not to dismiss Groce and the rest of the recruiting class for the next year. But I just can't wait for basketball season this year!!

Yes, this story has been confirmed by a number of people close to Ty.

I think the only question is will he play this year and I think the answer is 'No' but let's wait for some confirmation.

Agree.

As far as this year and next, let's not forget the amount of senior talent which will need to be replaced, namely, Lee, Toney and Mangum. Lot of points there.

We pick up Jackson, Harris, and Epps (presumably) for the back court but they have big shoes to fill.

EDIT: BTW, I wonder according to this if Groce will be a SF or SG?

BTW, what has been 'under-reported' is the versatility of the 2016/17 team and the 2017/18 teams.

Terry Harris appears to be a SF/SG as does Groce.

Bond has always been versatile. Madray can play '5' or '4' (not sure of his best position).

Even JT4 can play center or PF.

I believe Epps will also be a SF/SG type.
