Pretty crazy finish to the cycling event.

3 riders had a ~30 second lead with less than 10 KM to go, but 2 of them wiped out at about 50 MPH going down the mountain. The one that was able to dodge the carnage was caught with less than a KM to go and settled for bronze. It has to be agonizing knowing how little you have left between you and the gold, but then look back and see 2 riders gaining on you and there's nothing you can do about it.

..and it wouldn't be 2016/Brazil if the police weren't detonating a suspicious, unattended backpack at the finish line.

That would be what goes on inside many of those brothels. Brazilian water has another name: toilet/sewer water. At least in Rio.

God what is everyone's fascination with that place? Because it has nice scenery and has half naked women on the beach? Houston isn't a tourist draw but life is great down here and there's little shame down here, a few minor things like the plants and refineries environmental impact notwithstanding.

Those women (and transwomen in some cases, that's a nice Google/Youtube search) have been used and abused by so many, I'd rather have a nice classy suburbanite from around here. That isn't to say we don't have a few used and abused around here but geez, those women have been rammed by every local and every tourist with any interest. If I went to Brazil, I'd go to Salvador, the Atlanta of that country. I guess that's because I'm black though. Even Sao Paulo is a step up though, the women are the Coporate America (or Brazil in this case) type of person with intelligenece and beauty.

Looks like plenty of other Americans decided to not watch much, if any of the opening ceremonies (a polluted nation telling the world that OTHERS are the problem?).

Opening Ceremony TV Ratings were down 28% from 4 years ago...when it was taped hours in advance.

It would interesting to see the number of viewers over the course of the broadcast. My guess is there was a sharp decline - especially after the USA finished their entry.

Thought the opening ceremony was as bogus as the get, with each team coming in with a tree and the whole Eco thing. All the while Brazil is burning down the rainforest by the square miles. If the Amazon is the lung of the world...we must be smoking 4 packs a day.





The rowing venue was so rough boats were capsizing, in that nasty water.

The Women's USA basketball team - lead by UConn alumni - is eviscerating Senegal after the first quarter 35-9. Although Geno is the most successful women's coach ever, putting him as coach of Senegal would only shrink the point margin. Anyone who thinks coaching ability is more important than talent level needs to watch this game.
