All this talk about the Memphis war chest and their big-money boosters. Among all the schools under serious consideration, their endowment is pitifully small. Something doesn't compute.

Yeah it was buried in other conferences so the real football schools wouldnt have deal with putting the pitts, rutgers, and uconns into a playoff spot with a weak undefeated big east record. No big east school has even finished the season ranked other than cusa add louisville since it died mercifully. Lol.
Alabama vs big east champ in a playoff spot...national catastrophe avoided.
That was like three years ago, champ. Nice sample size. Prior to that the BE held its own in BCS games as long as it wasn't a UC or UCONN backing into the slot. Even then it couldn't have been any worse than the thrashing Clemson put on Oklahoma in the playoff. Your concern should be OU deciding to like the Tigers or that trammel is pulling it out his rear.
When did UC ever back into the slot? We were 11-2 and 12-0 in our two BCS years. Jesus, the revisionist history around here is incredible. Yeah, we crapped the bed in the Sugar Bowl. Kind of understandable given that we didn't have a coach and we were playing a highly motivated Florida team. But the notion that those weren't quality teams is just a flat out revisionist lie.
Sorry, didn't mean for it to come out that way. What I meant was the Big East had up and down seasons. UC was consistently good. Coaching turnover at WVU, Rutgers and Louisville knocked what were elite teams in those programs back and the consistently good programs stepped up and into those slots. We won both of our BCS appearances but our teams had a bunch of NFL talent on them including multiple first rounders on both sides of the ball. That's all I'm saying. Generally speaking the BE was a much better conference than its given credit for. Between 2004-2006 it was especially nasty. WVU, UL and RU were all top 15 teams.
Completely agree the conference was much better than it was given credit for. I also get it that some of the programs were down a bit, but the Big East had multiple ranked teams over that two year span. It's not like we were playing garbage programs. And I don't care who you are - if you lose one conference game in a BCS conference over the span of two seasons, that's not an accident. Brian Kelly had every defense in the Big East crippled with fear on what he'd do next.

If you were asked to pay for Memphis academics or Memphis athletics, which one would you choose?

I swear AAC fans spend so much time obsessing over Memphis' FedEx connection.

I agree with this to an extent. If we lose schools I think UMass, Army, VCU, Wichita State and maybe Dayton might make sense to fill in some gaps / strengthen basketball.

1) Send SMU, and Tulsa to MWC.
2) Become a 16 team Eastern Conference:

3) Buffalo
4) Army
5) Temple
6) Navy
7) Marshall
8) Old Dominion
9) Northern Illinois
10) Western Kentucky

16) Tulane
Thus is what I hope happens minus #3, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11.

So let me get this straight. UCONN's coach says the Big 12 in the NE is ridiculous, Berry Tramel takes a dump on Memphis in an interview, and a FOIA request puts UH's business in the streets. Cincinnati, you're up.
