Essentially the AAC schools have huge buyouts and the AAC commish is looking to get a big lump of those buyouts instead of protracted legal stuff, so he is attempting to force the Big XII to "accept" certain AAC teams in lieu of others.

Sadly, the commish really likes Memphis in the AAC.

I'll leave it at that.

I thought the buyout wasnt an issue? I assumed we were prepared to pay the buyout in full without the help of the Big XII.

Considering only the top tier AAC teams are the ones possibly leaving I would assume the commish really likes all of the schools under consideration...

I am sure we are. It is reasonable to assume though that the Big XII would be willing to agree to certain games in an attempt to help lower the buyout for the schools as well.

Is the buyout not the same for all schools? I'm not understanding how accepting one school over another affects how/when the ACC receives the buyout money.

The AAC requires a 27 month advance notice and a $10mm buyout.

Basically, the AAC commish will look to waive the 27 months (and avoid huge legal roadblocks and costs) for a little extra scratch and "working with" the Big XII to "allow" certain teams to leave.

Memphis is valuable to the AAC because (here it comes...) of its geography. They lose a Houston and Cinci and that is ok. But Memphis is the "bridge" and has done a lot to improve its value and the AAC sees Memphis as its true flagship.

OK. I've been thinking about this possibility. Maybe we, Memphis, will lead the AAC to power-con status. And maybe more TeeVEE money can be negotiated till we figure a way into more money.

Ok...so it sounds stoopit but I'm not gonna be devastated by any blocks or blockheads.
Gotta push thru everything nevah daunted for long.

The other choice called giving up just ain't viable. shrug.

What part of "been a done deal for more than 18 months" does Commissioner Aresco not understand?

Under what grounds?

The "it's not fair" statute?
