Games scheduled on Thanksgiving week are typically poorly attended. This is why most schools schedule their rivalry games that week. The sports networks even call it rivalry week.

Yes but both of our schools have young growing fan bases in big metro area that aren't established enough to show up when teams are struggling. Better to grow them by placing the game earlier on season when both fan bases will be engaged on a yearly basis.

Wonder why the gap between fsu and uf is so big. Honestly I thought FSU was the more popular team due to their recent success

UF dominates the state in sidewalk t-shirt fans, i.e. those that never attended the school...and that goes back decades.

FSU, for the old school folks still alive in FLA, will always be the "Girls School" (FSU was all-women school till after WW II).

The majority of rednecks (i.e. non-UF Alum) will always cheer for UF in the State...and having the athletic logo available for purchase...UF gains thousands of sales to non-alumni.

That's where President Dr Hitt's vision for UCF fell short...as while UCF has some non-alumni fans and even boosters..having just the Academic Seal available for the license plate purchases...that means nothing to those non-alumni.

While FSU has certainly gained more fan base over the past 30 plus years...they are still decades away from ever matching UF's numbers....and odds are, they will never get there.

Our highest attended Thanksgiving game was against S. Florida. Rivalry games always bring out more people so it makes sense to schedule them on traditionally poorly attended weekends.
