Who is leading the website? Haven't seen any emails come out lately, and I was thinking with football season coming up it would be good to ratchet up the exposure. Would it be possible to use the site to raise funds for stadium flyovers, tee shirts, flyers, ect?

I would wear a fire Bourne and Alger tee shirt to the games for sure. 05-mafia

Sorry, but last year's effort to create, launch, and maintain jmu2fbs.com was pretty time consuming and I actually ended up kicking in a fair amount of money. I don't mind the time and money if it seems like there's traction but it seems like the Richmond game (and lack of response from the admin) took the wind out of our sales.

I personally am waiting to see what shakes out with the Big 12 and our president's reaction to it before deciding what to do. If we pass on ANY potential FBS openings I'm pretty much done and can pass the site to whoever wants it. As sad as I'll be, I'll go back to a peripheral relationship (like so many other disconnected/disenfranchised alumni) until the day ever comes when we have leadership with a true national agenda. But for now I'm giving Alger this last opportunity to stop hindering our long overdue journey to national prominence.

I could maintain a little enthusiasm if we'd simply replace the MSU's and CCSU's with some JSU's, some NDSU's, some Montana's, and some UNI's. To appease those who think we need an almost certain OOC victory a Lehigh, Lafayette, Furman, or Wofford should fit the bill. Until we are done with Bourne's greatest achievement, Norfolk State, with no substantial run in the playoffs, then I'll simply be selecting a game or two each season rather than renew my season tickets.

If people think tickets are expensive now, just wait should JMU make the jump to a new FBS conference.

Exactly. Even worse when you consider the teams on the OOC home schedule ...

And regarding season tickets, their isn't much of a difference, if any, between what JMU charges and FBS schools in the G5 conferences.
The difference is for single game tickets which most schools use dynamic pricing as they should. Play a crappy no-name opponent and the price is cheap. Host a P5 team with some national appeal and the price will be much higher. Of course, it is worth it.

Why do you think ticket prices would go up significantly moving to FBS?
Then again I totally do not understand JMU budget of over 43 Million.

These are our ticket prices and the 6 game packs include 3 games at Gillette.

So? My point stands, or is reading comprehension that bad? To repeat..."if you think tickets are expensive NOW..."

If any JMU fan is thinking tickets are overpriced for FCS, or the level of competition, hold onto your wallets, because the costs is not staying the same (or going down) with a jump to FBS

Just like everything else, ticket prices are based off of supply and demand. I believe this to be understood through microeconomics.

We will have no issue paying for a good product competing against good competition. As others have pointed out, we seem to pay for what we have now (when looking at our season ticket sales), its getting those tickets represented by having butts in seats is our problem.

Supply and demand. UMass in FBS still has much less demand for tickets than an FCS JMU.

It is what it is. UMass football doesn't have an FBS fan base. Not trying to be mean, but some of your home games are empty.

It's the JMU way Steve. 04-cheers Also, given a new VA law that limits the percentage of student fees used to support varsity athletics, JMU will be compelled to generate greater gate revenue.

When the move comes to FBS (and it will) I fully expect tickets that now run $20 will jump to double the current price (or more).

The thing is though, he's not going to be any more motivated to buy tickets at a higher price to see us play Louisiana-Monroe or North Texas.
The same tired excuses will still be there.

I suspect you're correct. Higher priced tickets for unknown/uninspiring opponents is a formula for lower attendance, and static gate revenue.

Supply and demand. JMU has more attending their games on average than Umass has. You have games in Gillette stadium with an endless supply of seats.

Was really rooting for you guys when we were in the MAC and still do, but it's dragged on for so long. Don't know how you guys manage.

All our games will be on campus in 2017. Can hear the micro strategy argument, but it's a lot more than that. It's winning games and the psychology of a limited supply. That said, last year was awfully after the Temple game and the team stunk up the field until near the end of the season. It was really sweet beating Buffalo, at Buffalo and preventing them from being bowl eligible.

Back to ticket prices, they are on campus $20 in advance or $25 on game day. Now our stadium is an antique compare to yours after 2011. Can see $30 in advance or $35 on game day. Say $40 for a special game, like our Boston College game. Single game club seats at Gillette are $50 and for the BC game they are $60.

That said a $10 increase for six games is $60 dollars. Perhaps don't understand the finance of the average fan, but think it was fair for the increase and my wallet should be OK. Perhaps would find other ways to cut back if it was a real strain.

Like I said, rooting for you guys and did not like hearing another argument about not going FBS. But it's you university and team and will refrain from commenting too much.
