ESPN was always going to lowball the AAC, even if it kept 100% of its membership. What is the conference's options? Maybe Fox comes in and gives us an extra $1-2M a year per team but that could come at the price of less exposure (not to mention they will continue to widen the gap by paying the P5 schools more).

nbcsports...all our guaranteed tv games, nbcsports offerd us on 1 channel (in comparisons to espns 4)..nbc was essentially willing to make nbcsports the aac 24/7 networks .. and they wanted a 13-15 year contract (we wanted 3, we settled at 6)

since we matched with espn..nbcsports has also lost sub licensed MWC games when boise's espn contract came on...

so they have lost every college fbs content for essentially 15 years..but yet didnt make c-usa an offer, they could have honestly gotten c-usa games for free and they passed..

IMO with no evidence to back ..nbcsports knows our contract is short, they designed it and are likely gearing up for another attempt at the aac. thats why they didnt go after and of the other g5, so they have slots to offer us...
and espn also plays keep away, which is why they have matching clauses...nbcsport could offer a great deal

do you know if we have the matching clause again in this contract? it would be much easier to work both networks separately when negotiating. last time around, espn basically said...... go negotiate with NBC and we will determine if we will sign it. would have been much better to actually have ESPN give a counter offer that was sweeter.

every espn contract has a matching clause..its there way of a non-compete clause and keeps them dominant..you only leave if they let you leave..so im certain its in the contract

talk about a vise grip
