Coach Rhoades Periscope Interview
Tanner Gardner interviewed Coach Rhoades this morning on Periscope. If you don't use Periscope you can find it on the Facebook page for Rice Athletics:

RE: Coach Rhoades Periscope Interview
I am hearing from the freshman class that Ako Adams is really a tough nosed, in-your-face type of player that was making his presence known in practice.

RE: Coach Rhoades Periscope Interview
Nice interview. Just three months away until the first game roughly (an exhibition game against Our Lady of the Lake).

The offensive firepower we have is about as solid as anyone in the country can boast of - in fact I doubt very many teams in the country (if any) can claim they return 85 points a game (which we can counting the 70 points a game we return from last year, and then add in Marcus Jackson's 15 points a game his sophomore year). If we can get the defensive intensity to match the offensive firepower, the sky is the limit.

Nice to hear that about Ako Adams too as I take an in-your-nose player to mean he's focused on defense.

The big question to me is who steps up and becomes part of the 8-10 man rotation. If we're healthy, we'll certainly have to redshirt 1 or 2 guys. I'm thinking one of the 3 freshman bigs will redshirt. But I guess wait to cross that bridge until we get to the season opener.

Great interview. It was interesting Coach Rhoades said Conf USA is a basketball conference. I think he is right :).

It was also good for Coach Rhoades to remind us that Texas Tech and SFA are decent OOC games to look forward to. I had overlooked them on the schedule.

No doubt. Beating those teams would be a great stepping stone for the program. Really enjoyed the interview. I really hope things will come together this year for Coach Rhoades. He continually comes across as totally sincere and as solid a coach as we've had around here. No bs from him and you can tell he is aching to bring this around to a winning program and raising Rice up to higher levels than its been in decades. I am sooooo excited to see these guys play in hoops this year and wish we didn't have to wait so long until basketball season starts.

He mentioned SEAL training would be happening later in September this year as opposed to earlier. Looking forward to seeing the pictures and videos from year 3 of the SEAL training. Hope to see Big B in there as well! That will be a sight! Go Owls!
