If ucf gets left out of expansion, i'm next. I don't watch sports outside of college and Orlando City so I don't need espn or fox.

I definitely think we need to keep our options open on the next contract, when it comes to networks. ESPN exposure served its purpose. We need more out of the next deal.

RE: # of ESPN Subscribers Absolutely Tanking
If it is left up to the P5 that number will be a lot lot lower very soon. I am pretty close myself to not really caring anymore, Espn was really the only reason I had cable. But they have slowly eroded away my interest in college sports. I can always go to the game or go watch it at a sports bar. They are still under the impression that we would watch the same teams over and over again......When people really don't care unless its a team local to them.

Actually not sure what a skinny bundle is, but we have Netflix, HBO Now, Sling and Amazon Prime (already paid for it anyway). Still save a ton per month. Don't miss DirecTV one single bit.

If I go to the Playstation Vue I still get dvr access and only pay $29.99 plus get the espn app.

Same route I have gone and I have all the sports networks. Also, PSVUE is getting ready to add NFL Channel and Redzone.

Yeah I need to cut cable again. I was an early cord cutter but my love of soccer forced me to resubscribe. But then a baby happened and realized I don't have time for soccer. Maybe I'll do the Sling or Playstation Vue solution.

Do we need 200 channels? Hell there are days I don't even turn on my tv. I'm more than happy to get outside more.

Same here brother. Used to have Sunday ticket. The notion of even being able to watch one NFL game, much less several, with a toddler is hilarious.

We cut the cord three years ago. No regrets no issues. Cut for three reasons.

1. Spend more time together doing family stuff instead of TV. 2. Nothing but crap on TV anyway.
3. Absolutely hate ESPN / the "Power 5" moniker and what college football has become and refuse to knowingly pay a bill where those SOBs get some portion of my hard earned money.

Aah...its a breath of fresh air.

Pretty big revenue number. Disney still going to get money of of the Sling and Vue people, just not as much.

#1 and #3 fits me. The cable bill doesn't bother me as much as feeding the p5 machine and giving money to the sec network.

5% in 5 months. Averages to about 11-12% over a 12 month period if it stayed the same. Not exactly good.

Too much pop culture and news on ESPN now. If I wanted to hear about the racial divide in the US I can tune into 6 different news outlets and hear about it. When I watch sports or listen to sports radio I want it to be about sports. Dan Le Batard is the WORSE at this.

RE: # of ESPN Subscribers Absolutely Tanking
If your school has any reliance on TV revenues (& all D-1 schools do to some extent), the cord cutting in favor of direct digital will only exacerbate the funding gap between the haves and have nots. ESPN & the other networks that receive their revenue primarily from cable & satellite subscriptions are the direct beneficiaries of substantial revenues from subscribers that rarely if ever tune in to ESPN or even the commercial networks for sports broadcasts because the ESPN family or some portion of it is in the basic subscription pricing. The current thought by most industry experts is that direct digital sports channel view subscriptions revenue will never exceed 40% of the current cable/satellite revenue that goes to ESPN & other sports channels as part of the current cable/satellite packages. So while you may directly benefit from a cost reduction in an a la carte direct digital market to view your favor sports activities, the reduced revenue to the networks that are funding college sports (or any sports really) will continue to "tank" as part of the direct digital progression - and your school will see reduced TV revenue long term - substantially reduced.
