And as soon as any of those programs make the Big 12, suddenly they will be against expanding playoffs, since their conference champ will be in (almost) every year, and it will keep others out. That's just the way it works.

The funny thing is the top teams and conferences would still make more money from an expanded playoff. They would still get more than the smaller leagues, way more. Just like the NCAA basketball tourney.
But what it would do is give every D1 conference a shot at the playoff.
16 teams. 10 conference champs, seeded accordingly. 6 at large teams from the best conferences.
Everyone wins. They just don't want to give everyone a fair shot.
