You could say the same thing about Boise St. Who knows where they'd both be with an additional 60 years? While Boise St (FBS since 1997) has 4 additional years on South Florida (FBS since 2001) in 1-A/FBS, Boise St wasn't ranked until 2002. South Florida's rankings are dominated by 2007 and 2008 with spurts in 2009 and 2011.

This is not a knock on South Florida. They have a much higher ceiling than Boise St and recruiting in an extremely over-saturated region of the country. Whether or not they'll ever have the opportunity is another question.

I am surprised Central Florida was not on the list, though.

Central Florida was only ranked in 2010 and 2013. And not the whole season. USF was only ranked in 2008 and 2009, but it was most of the season.
