Interesting and fun list. it would be interesting to see if you could break it down to last 10 years or last 25 years.

The fact of the matter is that we were never ranked in an AP poll until the DeAngelo years and even then I think we cracked the top 25 for only one week.

The AP poll was only top 10 during our really nice run in the early 1960's.

Yeah, I had no illusions of Memphis being included in the list. I was more intrigued by teams that were included that I didn't expect. You knew the Ivy League teams would be there, but I was taken back by the likes of South Florida, Nevada, East Carolina, Santa Clara, Villanova, and Northern Illinois.

South Florida was ranked P2 in 2007.

I'm relatively certain 2015 was the first CFB season Memphis was ranked for multiple weeks.

Of course, the AP wasn't always T25 - if it was, we would have some ranked teams back in the day.

I'm pretty sure the methodology is simply a point for each appearance, another point if ranked first that week, and ten points for national titles.

This is in no way a ranking of the T100 FBS programs.

I was at the game when Northern Illinois beat Alabama at Alabama. I remember because the student section was asking what the NIU's mascot was for their Rammer Jammer chant(which they used to do before the game).

I know Alabama was down then, but they still beat them and possibly more.

BTW, I didn't read the article, so I might be speaking out of context.

RE: Top 100 Programs of All Time
That was a waste of time and brain cells. They think a team which has not been playing football for 20 years is one of the top 100 programs of all time.

This is just a list of teams that has been ranked in AP poll the most. Hell USF did not start playing Div 1 football until 2003 and was immediately invited to join the BE starting in 2005. They spent the majority of the next 10 years getting BCS money. And using teh BCS status to get players. You do not rank a team in the top 100 based on ten years of football.

Larry Porter ran all over Southern Cal in 1991 before coming home and getting shutout by a bad Ole Miss team.

You can't list a team whose University didn't give a hoot about sports for decades.
