Rice schedules football home-and-home with LSU ...
Rice is retaining the TV rights to the UT game and LSU game at Reliant. Period. The university and athletic dept are raising their game.

A straight home and home as I assume the Texas game is (are they getting 3.5mil) is different than this contract.

Hey I'm just guessing...no facts to back my guess on. Just good old commonsense

Texans owner Bob McNair has previously been on the Rice Board of Trustees. Has to help.

If each of the teams in the conference would put these types of games on their OOC schedule, when TV negotiations come back up our OOC TV inventory would look a whole lot more attractive.

Unfortunately, most of the schools are short sighted and sign the road paycheck game thinking that they will make a $1M+, but in reality they are simultaneously losing $1M+ on TV rights because of the lack of attractive TV inventory.

It should be mandatory that each team in the conference schedule X amount of games against P5 teams where the conference will have the TV rights to the game. Until CUSA gets to the point where conference game broadcast rights hold more value then they should look for ways to control TV rights to games that will generate $$'s

Nice job by Rice.

It is a Rice home game. I don't deny that LSU is expecting a home crowd "feel" to the game. And it does illustrate the value in playing in a place like Houston, which has helped both Houston and Rice schedule some big names. Rice has the following coming to Houston to play: Baylor (2016 and 2019), Stanford (2017), Texas (2019), LSU (2020), Boise State (2024), Army (2017 and 2020), and Northwestern (2025).

Why can't they get true home games with anyone? I understand the desire to schedule these types of games but at least try for a four game series with a 2-1-1.

Several of the games listed above are at Rice Stadium, including Baylor this season and Stanford next year.

All of the games except for LSU and UT are at Rice Stadium. We also have Wake Forest at Rice Stadium.

The LSU and Texas games will create more demand than 47,000 seat Rice Stadium can handle. Playing at NRG follows the money.

This will be the 56th and 57th games between Rice and LSU. Rice has beaten LSU more times than the Owls have played most CUSA foes.
