While I love the upgrades to the restrooms on the lower west side (particularly the addition of doors on the stalls!) it almost seems the decision to add modernizing renovations without retaining or increasing capacity was either shortsighted or pre-supposed we'd never host large crowds again. Both are unacceptable from my point of view.

So no one responded to my question buried in the middle of my rant in post #87.

As I sit on the lower west side and have enjoyed the renovations to the restroom facilities in that area, I am genuinely curious.

Were similar renovations done for the restrooms in other areas of HRS?

I had no idea any renovations were done in any restrooms. The ones on the east side by the student section haven't been touched since I matriculated in 2007.

You need to come on over to the west side! Real urinals, doors on the stalls, working sinks (at least 4, maybe more, I can't remember), towel dispensers that work and actually have towels, etc. Definitely an upgrade from the prior facilities, but I'm concerned if these upgrades limit the capacity, which was the gist of what I thought some of the replies were implying. Maybe I misread/misunderstood or the responders didn't know about the upgrades? I think this happened during CDC's time here?

Are you talking about post 81?

I think there may have been posts deleted that were in the thread that was moved to the Smack Board.

Hate to see people banned. But I think Afflicted needed another timeout or at least a vacation from the board, maybe for his own sake. I don't think he generally is a troll, but a number of his recent posts were more provacative in tone IMO.

I went to the Smack Board. Still don't find anything as offensive as what I have seen from bona fide Rice grads who are not banned. Maybe he was already at a 75% warning and just tipped the scales.

Granted, he is a UH supporter and I don't agree with a lot of his statements about Rice, what they should do and how they should be, but I think an outsider's perspective is important. I wish we had more of them. Didn't we used to have a Longhorn Owl and an AggieOwl or two? Have we run them all off?

for a lot of our posters, Rice is either their #2 or one of two that they support. No need to close our ranks to "outsiders". JMHO.

Afflicted ripped on the mods and referred to this place as a "garbage board". It was time.

There's not one person on this board who I don't think brings something to the conversation. There was before yesterday.

And, I absolutely agree that we could use more non-alums on the board.

Was he speaking truth to power or just trying for suicide by mod?

Don't answer that.

I'm guessing that banning Afflicted had 0% to do with him being a non-alum.

Afflicted was annoying as hell and all his posts read the same.

I do think he was a Rice fan though...

No troll is going to dedicate 5,000 posts to something they don't really care about. That said, he never really seemed to know much about our personnel nor our history besides "I was here in the 80's and don't want to go back to that!"

RE: Future Football Schedule Update
I sat by him at the last Rice-UH game and he was wishing more Rice fans had come to the game and I think he was cheering more for Rice than UH. I have a different opinion than most of his recent posts which imply that Rice should be satisfied with our reduced position in football. My own opinion is that Rice sports will continue to fade away unless we can get into a conference better than the current CUSA. I do not expect Rice fans will ever care that much about Western Kentucky, Middle Tennessee etc.

In addition, he had a bizarre habit of stating things as facts (rather than opinion) when they just were just flat wrong.

Not "I disagree with you" wrong ... just factually wrong.

I remember he told me once (on a topic in which he was factually incorrect) to "come on, use your brain". I've actually had him on ignore on months.

We really need the fall sports to begin. I can't believe we are rehashing a particular poster's pluses and minuses, mostly the later.

As my daughter likes to say...Bye Felicia!

that's certainly not unique on a public message board though, including this one . . . .

I realize you weren't implying that was a reason for Affflicted to be banned.. He didn't bother me, but I never was engaged in his arguments. I think the conflict started to effect the tone of his posts lately. It was noticeable. Not surprised since he had crossed the line before. He corrected that the last time he got out in time out.
