ESPN and the G5
Reading the ESPN the magazine pre season football magazine it seems like they are trying to widen the P5 vs G5 gap.
They list statistics like third in P5 receiving like its a different division.
It is not news that they give the P5 95 percent of the coverage .
They go out of their way point out the difference .
I wonder if paying the G5 peanuts or not purchasing their rights is part of the plan.

RE: ESPN and the G5
There are certain G5 schools that ESPN are pushing to join the P5. They are mostly in the AAC and MWC. North Dakota State, Northern Illinois, Toledo, Bowling Green, Appalachian State and Georgia Southern are the others that they have a loved for as well.

They promote their properties.

When the Pac 12 and Big 12 signed on with Fox a couple of contracts back, other than USC, you would have thought there was no football west of the Mississippi.

RE: ESPN and the G5
The intent of the CFP was to eliminate autobids to its post season which was a source of pain for the non-AQ conferences by a best 4 playoff.

The governance model of FBS needed a revamp from its mid 90's setup where the Big East, WAC and CUSA all had 3 votes like the P5 conferences. The WAC's 3 votes were split in half so the MWC and WAC both had 1.5 votes of representation and the SBC and MAC had 1 vote a piece. With all the G5 leagues taken together it was about the same representation they had before collectively.

It should be one division of 10 conferences. All 10 conferences should have their champ in a major bowl game.

Rose: B1G/PAC
Sugar: SEC/B12
Orange: ACC
Gator: AAC
Holiday: MWC
Cotton: MAC/SBC/CUSA at large
Peach: MAC/SBC/CUSA at large
Fiesta: MAC/SBC/CUSA at large

The Gator, Holiday, Cotton, Peach and Fiesta would all have a G5 champ on one side and they could payout 30 million to each conference (instead of 15-25 mil the G5's get now). The Rose, Sugar, Orange could payout far more with P5 conferences in it.

This would do more at least to mask the inequities of the system if all the leagues had a major bowl.

The NCs over the last 20 years seem to confirm that notion.
