he was essentially ready to walk unto any fbs team that said they wanted him

he sat behind chad kelly last year who is viewed as arguably one of the best qbs in the nation last year for ole miss, and beat out jonh franklin who is easily winning the auburn competition this year despite just getting there...

From what I saw of Franklin, he better improve a lot or it will be a long season for Auburn if he's their starter. The one game the Auburn asst saw him was as others said against one of the worst JuCo teams in the state last year....hence the first half score compared to some of the other games.

As far as the starter I feel like he wanted a P5 or nothing at all. I also "feel like but could be wrong" he probably didn't want to trash schools as much as some of his teammates did in the event one of them was his backup plan.

Agreed on Franklin 100%. As far as Wyatt Roberts, that's an interesting argument I didn't consider initially

Another thing I saw was it was obvious this program has some money for being in po-dunk MS. Their many uniform combinations made me immediately compare to my Blue Raiders. Their stadium was nice too. As some pointed out, it looks like JUCO in MS is some serious business lol

RE: OT: Netflix's Last Chance U
As a product of MS JUCO football (I was a manager though lol) I can tell you JUCO is BIG business in MS. My alma mater MGCCC just spent $10M updating all the athletic facilities and JCJC is one of the higher paying schools in the league for coaches (from what I have heard from other coaches). And on Roberts not playing D1 I have noticed that unless a QB is a D1 "bounce back" they probably won't play for a D1 team coming out of JUCO. At least not a P5 school. I don't know why it's that way but it is. He seemed pretty legit to me though.

Also this series reminded me how much of a Dbag Buddy Stephens is. I have had few interactions with him during my time at MGCCC and I thought he was a douche back then and this series just proved what I thought of him.

he's from Mississippi im certain he knows your history (usm was top 25 in his high school years)...

he didnt want to do division 2 or 3 because of pride. but i also think he is well aware of his capabilities of not being as athletic or strong as kelly and franklin

IMO he'd have taken a walkon at usm...the only thing he said is i dont want to play division 2..im not sure about Mississippi but in Texas kids would rather quit football, than go d2... almost every recruit ha D1 bound on their ...they celebrate SFA offers as D1..as long as its d1

Considering EMCC has won National Championships in 3 of the last 4 years (11, 13 and 14) I'd assume Adidas probably gave them most of it. As far as the helmets they probably got the same treatment. I noticed while watching that the coaches usually had on Nike attire unless it was game day while players were wearing Russell and UnderArmour apparel a good bit at practice.

That's interesting. It's amazing how much money is available for successful football programs no matter geography and exposure

Here's a pretty good article on the coach. The article was written in December 2014 which was just before they won their 3rd National Championship in 4 years

I had to cringe during the Homecoming episode when they were following the two Homecoming Queen hopefuls around. God, that reminded me of being back in high school again.

And just shows how different the deep South is.

It's also weird seeing someone that you've known for years on a Netflix documentary.

RE: OT: Netflix's Last Chance U
I've been watching it myself. It is a very raw documentary. I think it shows exactly how many kids are not ready for the student side of student-athlete. A lot of the kids are honest about it too. They say "man, before I got here I never went to class" or never had to do the work, the teacher just passed them

Also, the Roberts kid, lots of people claiming he was in the same "D1 or bust" mindset as the Franklin kid (who in my mind is a chump). I could be wrong but I thought in one of the earlier episodes he said something to the extent of if he got an offer to play somewhere else he would go, if not he was just going to Ms St to finish his degree bc "eventually you gotta go to work". Loved hearing that.
