Let's go to the heart of the Big 12 question. Who will vote for UH?
Who votes for or against Houston?
Texas and Tech are for. What from there?

ISU, KSU, KU, and WVU are no votes I think.

BU and TCU are no votes.
Despite what the coog fan boys keep insisting on, the two privates don't have to kiss the ring like UT and TTU do.
The state government has nothing to either bribe or threaten them with and the few public dollars were associated with are from the Fed, not the state.

While they may say things in public about their dislike, they will get the 8 votes needed. A no vote means they have turned down money that a yes vote would bring the athletic department.

It's in the best interests of TCU and Baylor to keep Texas happy. They're both 'yes' votes, and are all it would take to block expansion not including UH. Then come the compromises, "You give us UH, we'll give you Cincy", etc.

I'm sure you wish that's true but that's assuming 1) Texas WANTS UH and isn't just politically covering their butts while COUNTING on TCU and BU to vote no and 2) keeping UT happy helps TCU or BU because let's face it neither school gets the tag along call if UT leaves anyway
UH is bad for our business. You need to accept that. It's not personal. It's business

TCU was bad for business until they weren't.
Your arguments are thinly-veiled and weak. You refuse to take anything at face value and choose rather to dig for underlying meaning that isn't there. It's sad, and your abject fear of UH is duly noted.

The four Texas schools can tell their fans, alumni and faculty whatever they like privately, but the fact of the matter is that they're not going to miss an opportunity to cull favor with the state government. Favors are the lifeblood of politics. End of story.
If any of the non-Texas schools actually want expansion, then they'll vote yes on Houston.
Sorry to Memphis, who in my opinion is the school that will be squeezed out by this play. But that's life. It's perfectly within Texas' right to "keep it in-state" and there's nothing the Tenn state gov can do it about. Or the North Carolina's state gov, for that matter.

And that was a unique situation where one Texas school left. Your asking for 5 Texas schools in one conference while claiming that's good for anyone but UH

I keep waiting for anyone to tell me what the STATE of Texas could possibly give or threaten TCU with. You can't because there isn't. All we need is good relations with city of FW who by the way isn't going to hurt its interests to help houstons

It's good for UT and that's all that matters, so the rest will fall in line.
How many Texas schools there are is irrelevant given Texas' size. Texas has more people in it than Ohio, Connecticut, Tennessee, Utah, Colorado and Idaho combined, and is growing at a higher rate than all of them. Houston is soon to pass Chicago to become the #3 most populated city in the country.
If it makes you feel better, pretend that Houston is in Louisiana, Lubbock is in New Mexico, and Ft. Worth is in Oklahoma.

Hey so get it. You're only hope of getting in is the same as Baylor and Tech: Texas politics.
But that's blinding you to reality in your desperation.

Sorry, but the whole "can't have X schools from the same state" thing just doesn't apply equally to every state. Texas is huge. It could easily be three different states, with Houston, Dallas-FW, and Austin being the capitals.
Then in that case you'd be talking 2-2-1. So there you go.

See the comprehensive analysis thread, we are the clear #2 choice and our being left out would only make sense if certain petulant, fearful individuals got their way.
With that said, assume that politics were our only shot. How'd that work out for Baylor and Tech?

No other conference, including the PAC with Cali has more than 2 public schools from the same state. Nobody

All 10 vote yes, after some serious horse trading takes place.

I see that you've already edited this, I'd bet you changed it from reading 2 schools to 2 public schools (do explain why that makes a difference), because you forgot about the 4 ACC schools in North Carolina.

No, it was a smaller edit.
There are only 2 public in Cali and 2 in NC.
You are so far down the rabbit hole you honestly believe the governor of Texas can decide wether the B12 expands and with whom.
You are that desperate

For what it's worth, TCU and TT favor SMU.
I know we aren't getting in, but still nice to hear.

I hope we are a no because I don't want to be so Texas centric. At the same time Houston hurts the Texas schools way more than the non Texas schools so if they are in I'm not going to be mad.
