Who here remembers the glory days of Cincinnati Drive-Ins?
I have a great affection for the drive-in...surprisingly, Ohio is one of the last refuges for drive-in theaters in the U.S.--I believe they are near the top the list of most drive-ins in a single state still operational. We still have 2 running relatively nearby, the Holiday out in Hamilton, and the Starlite in Amelia...

I still go to the Holiday on occasion...it's still great fun.

How many of you out there remember:

The Jolly Roger
The Oakley
The Woodlawn
The Academy
The Acme
The Norwood Twin
The Montgomery Drive-In

Many of these bit the dust when digital projection came in, but the Starlite and Holiday survived. I'm curious to know if any of you out there remember those days.

A few bits of memorabilia:

And for those currently interested:

I miss those days.

RE: Who here remembers the glory days of Cincinnati Drive-Ins?
I grew up in Hamiltucky and we went to the Acme on a pseudo regular basis. As a kid we played in the play ground that was out front and the rocking horse that was inside at the snack house. Never even checked the other cars for unlawful sex until I was around 16 and hormone imbalanced.
I didn't go to the Holiday until i was older (that would be around 1964). There was another drive-in that was down off the road, next to the river between Hamilton and Ross on SR 128.

Used to live a few minutes away from the Oakley Drive In. Still seems strange that it's gone.

I saw many a flick at the Oakley...they were dog-friendly, so I could take my pups with me.

I had also forgotten the Dent and the Pike 27...

Was this the one?

If so, they're still open!

Gotta love these:

Went to the "Dirty" Dent quite often in HS. Went to the Mt. Healthy Drive-In on Compton a lot as a kid.

Grandparents lived across the street from Mt. Healthy drive-in on Compton. For those that remember "Mr. Fix-it", that was my grandfather.
