The irony of the Big 12 expanding......
Many of the posters who represent the schools being mentioned as candidates to be invited to the Big 12 has stated the conference is doomed and there will be four 16 teams power conferences.

Do you fans with this line of thinking still feel the same way today?

Yes, but everyone would rather be in a conference of Big 12 leftovers and the best of the AAC/MWC/BYU, than be in a conference with the AAC leftovers and the best of CUSA/MAC.

Okay, which G5 schools are the B1G adding then? Which ones are the ACC, SEC and Pac adding? A 64 team basketball tournament out of 80 teams?

No guarantee the bold part will happen.

I think it's an interesting question. No doubt in my mind they want to take over BB just like they did football. My guess is they split and hold open a few at large spots for teams outside the P5.

IMO, it doesn't matter. No G5 school in its right mind is going to turn down a Big 12 invite, regardless of what may or may not occur in the future.

Even if OU and UT left it is an upgraded conference for the new members to be.

Absolutely. Even if OU and UT both were to bolt, that would still be better than what they have or could ever hope to have in their present conference.

As long as Texas and Oklahoma anchor the conference, + the rest of the old Big 8 schools ... it'll still be included in the top payout structure of whatever organization controls the college football premier bowls/playoff bracket. That's more/less what makes a conf a P conf.

It's going to be more than just UT and OU bolting. I just find it amusing when the Big 12 said it would not expand there were many pissed off folks that wished the Big 12 would go away and die a dreaded death.

If The Big 12 doesn't expand with at least 4 it will be picked apart before their present GOR expires. Texas ain't signing a GOR extension expansion or not, Oklahoma won't sign it if Texas doesn't.

The Big 12 will be parted out like an old junk car.

How would this happen with the GOR in place?

Big XII could be stable long term with 12 or 14 teams, as long as they choose wisely.

I think Texas would sign an extended GOR. Texas wants to be in charge, they can't the bullies in any other conference but the Big 12. They aren't leaving the Big 12 unless the other schools decide to leave.

No, of course there is no "end game" ... it is a fiction of people playing Fantasy Conference Realignment Risk. The schools in the conferences are just trying to do what they think is in the interest of their own schools, and then onlookers who assume there is a deeper pattern to it find that they can see one. Kind of like sometimes you look at a cloud and it looks like a horse, or a duck.

Well I believe this question will be answered before the start of football season.

If Texas or Oklahoma make the playoffs every year or every other year the b12 will be stable. If Texas or Oklahoma had made the playoffs i dont think the b12 would even be considering expansion.
