.
Can we just cut this short and go directly to P1 being Alabama/Ohio State?
They can play in THE championship game every year for a gazillion dollars and the rest of us can just have regular football.

A P1 with Bamer & Ohio St and Notre Dame would keep its Independent status.
Cheers!

Yahoo on P4 possiblity
(08-02-2016 11:06 AM)YNot Wrote: I prefer the P2 that stems from B1G and SEC expansion and provide a sort of National and American league setup.
In the words of ECU administrator, "one conference called ESPN and one called Fox".
Fox gets the B1G and Pac 12 to merge, pushing the league to 26.
ESPN weds the ACC and SEC, Notre into a 29 team conference.
The Big 12 and a few G5 schools are used to pad both sides to 32 or 36. Some schools may be left without a seat. You could see an Arizona join the SEC or a Florida join the B1G to keep one network from completely monopolizing a region.

Nothing in the history of college football is nice and tidy and this is no different. Remember guys, this whole operation is run like pro boxing – every man for himself. There's no commissioner pulling the strings here. There is no grand plan or end game.
Where is Notre Dame going to go? Nowhere, that's where.
Which four teams will the Pac-12 take if the most attractive Big 12 teams don't want to go there (and they don't, they want to go east for exposure's sake)?
I understand why people want to think this way – it gives things symmetry and makes sense of their heads. However, it just defies history and completely ignores the current dynamic. It's just NEVER, EVER going to happen.
Yep to get to some 4 league even number teams it's going to require a complete change in the way conferences have done business. I only see 2 ways you could ever get to this. Either have conferences "trade" members to make them balance out or have them negotiate a TV deal as a group and then divide the money out equally among all of the schools a la the NFL. I don't see either of these scenarios happening.
The only "realistic" way this could come to fruition as Forde writes...would be if OU and OkSt were the first movers...to the SEC together. Next move, would have to be Texas and 3 partners (not BYU...Pac-12 would never take them in their liberal academic mindsets). Then, and only then, would the Big 10 consider taking KU and UConn only.
I can't really blame the national media members...they can't take the time to obsess with our little realignment fetish like members of this board do. But it's really improbable what they trot out there as possible scenarios most times.
