Never really watched the series during its original run but I did see the movie when it came out.

My question is though, will Scully and Mulder always differ on belief in the supernatural?

In starting S1 on NF today I was noticing that aside from the direct set up of those "questionable" government types wanting Scully to lend "fact/credence" to what Mulder was looking at/into it just seems like her personality and character set up seems to be putting her in the role of the more proof you give me the more I'll believe what you are saying is true and not made up.

Mulder was saddled with Scully in an attempt to debunk his supernatural theory to many of the X-Files.

I agree the people that placed her definitely wanted to use her to debunk his thoughts. But in terms of the team she seems open enough to the possibility if she fot the proof.

It's been a while since I watched the series but FWIW she always had a rational explanation for the supernatural (ghosts, monsters, etc) but CSM and Alien conspiracies were the storylines that slowly began to crack her grounded disbelief.
