Would an All-Inclusive NCAA Playoff have stopped the Poaching?
I may be in the minority, but I have always felt that an all-inclusive 16 team NCAA Playoff would have stopped much of the poaching going on over the past 10 years.

If each Conference Champ was included from each of the 10 conferences (6 wildcards) then every team has a shot at a National Title.
I am a believer that the MWC of 6 years ago, or an AAC member of last year could have played for the NC.
When teams from G5 do well in the playoffs then the following occurs:
1) More money for the conference and the team...
2) Ability to hold onto good coaches...what coach, long term wants to be highly successful and NEVER have a chance at a NC?
3) Better recruiting. Much like #2, the first things kids are told by P5 schools are if you go to a G5 school you have NO shot at a NC.
4) TV exposure and the notoriety of knocking off a Bama or Ohio State.
5) More TV Contract dollars. When a good run in the playoffs generates more interest in conferences then more people watch, meaning more money in TV contracts.

I like the concept of the AAC and the teams, but the TV partners and the Money Bags Conferences do this each time a Strong Conference rises up. They pick off the top teams and kick the rest to the curb.

I always felt like an NCAA All-Conference Playoff would solve much of this.

Probably not, as the main driving force for recent expansion has been growing the footprint for cable TV money.

It has never been about being fair, and stopping poaching. It has been about a money and power grab.

I think it is MORE about the power grab than the money.
the NCAA and all of the participants would make TONS more money with a REAL Playoff.

Regarding the idea of too many games...they do it at every other level. And let's not be naïve, these student=athletes were brought in to be athletes first, and if time is left, then students.

The only thing that would've stopped it was not giving the conferences the ability to negotiate their own TV deals. Once that genie was out, the madness began
