RE: MAC Football Media Day
So, 10 people picked Ohio to win the East but none of them thought they'd win the MACC? 03-lol

And if this is the media poll, does anyone care to guess who the one person of the 4 that picked Akron to win the East also picked them to win the MACC? It has to be Elton! 03-lmfao

One question though...why does the East have 26 first place votes while the West only has 17? There were 26 votes for the overall champion.

RE: MAC Football Media Day
Toledo plays BG, @Akron, and OU this season... one there could end title hopes with @NIU and @WMU also on the schedule.

If I was picking:
West:
WMU 12-2 (MAC Champ with bowl loss to really good team and one OOC game)
Toledo 10-3 (2 MAC losses, 1 OOC loss, bowl win)
CMU 8-5 (3 MAC losses, 2 OOC losses, bowl win)
NIU 8-5 (3 MAC losses, 1 OOC loss, bowl loss)
BSU 5-7
EMU 2-10

East:
OU 9-5 (East Champ with 1 OOC loss, 2 MAC losses, loss in MACC, loss in bowl game)
BG 7-6 (4 MAC losses, 1 OOC loss, loss in bowl game)
Akron 8-5 (1 OOC loss, 4 MAC losses, win in bowl game)
UB 4-8
Miami 3-9
Kent 3-9

Only fitting as Frank is 0-3 in MAC title games and a few other years picked to win the East by the media but fell short.

Just 1 OOC loss? Northwestern, Illinois, Georgia Southern.

1 loss would be pretty great. Georgia Southern terrifies me.

Looking at our great recruiting classes, steady rise up from 1-11 to 8-5, and a classic end to the season beating Toledo on the road and winning our first bowl game ever., Throw in a ton of potential with 4 starters on the line, and almost all of our skill people back.... It's pretty easy to see why were the preseason favorite....

Probably not to us, unless they figure we're going to lose to WMU, Toledo and CMU all in the same year.

Not surprised to see WMU picked at the top but I am a bit surprised to see how big the gap is between WMU and the rest of the west.

If WMU is finally able to overcome their tendency in recent years to shoot themselves in the foot (or head) during a lot of big games and it they avoid a rash of serious injuries then they will probably cruise to the top.

Steinbrecher's state of the MAC speech didn't get covered on here but he had some good tidbits on CBS Sports and ESPN at 17:30 mark.

CBS Sports will broadcast 12 regular season men's basketball games plus the MAC semifinals and the women's finals, first time either have been nationally broadcast.

ESPN is working with the MAC to move up midweek games from 8:00pm starts to 6:00 and 7:00pm to make it easier on the fans.

RE: MAC Football Media Day
There wasn't any talk on here about the bowl partners for 2016 either but for the first time the MAC will have 6 primary bowl tie-ins for what will be a 12 team conference next year.

2016 Bowl Season:
Mobile Alabama Bowl (Mobile, Ala.; vs. Sun Belt)
Famous Idaho Potato Bowl (Boise, Ida.; vs. Mountain West)
Raycom Media Camellia Bowl (Montgomery, Ala.; vs. Sun Belt)
Miami Beach Bowl (Miami, Fla.; vs. American Athletic)
Popeyes Bahamas Bowl (Nassau, Bahamas; vs. American Athletic Conference/Conference USA)
Marmot Boca Raton Bowl (Boca Raton, Fla., vs. American Athletic Conference/Conference USA)
*Secondary in San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl
*Secondary to ESPN owned and operated bowl games (Birmingham Bowl, St. Petersburg Bowl)
*Secondary to Quick Lane Bowl (Detroit, Mich.)

http://www.mac-sports.com/news/2016/7/25...62838.aspx

I believe the MAC has 6 this year because the SBC pulled out of the G5 bowl rotation. Tne MAC has slots in the Bahamas, Miami Beach and Boca Raton Bowls.

Could this be the first year the MAC actually doesn't fill all its primary tie-ins?

He better not mean 6 pm Eastern time, that's 5 pm here. No one will get to the game on time. Even at 6 pm people from Chicago probably won't bother trying to get there. Though I can understand it's easier for the rest of the MAC.

As long as Rocky keeps rowing the boat for us, we should be okay...
