I loved this week's Flyer.

My favorite - ..."when you suspect all lists like these are BS."

... you remember all the restaurants that have been on the "death corner" in Cooper-Young.

I hope so much that the current restaurant breaks the curse, ate their friday night - great food, great owner/chef.

I've only been there for drinks, but have heard the same about the food.

anyone here remember the guy that used to live in the boxes/hole near the RR tracks @ Highland and Southern?

I used to know his name 30 years ago but my memory is gone.

Was the car pictured above the story's headline his actual boxcar?

I'm trying to picture where exactly that would be and how it got off the rails in the first place.

No. He actually lived in a shack made from pallets, carpet remnants, cardboard, whatever he found and fastened to the outside of the hut. He built it on a patch of ground right next to the tracks near Highland. I don't think anyone ever messed with him. I think there was even a Boxcar Eddie "music festival" at one time. He and Monk were street legends back then.

So we're talking about the strip of grass just north of the tracks alongside Southern?

Tracks had that grove of trees beside Southern trimmed down last month.

I heard many tales of him but he died in 1990 - before my time. They had a picture of him up on a big wall of pictures in RP tracks for a long time.

I'm surprised that these didn't make the list:

Saturday mornings meant wrastlin' on Channel 5, or if you were lucky you could get a seat inside at the station's studio on Union.
You remember the old partial double-decker Showboat buses.
You remember the old man on Walnut Grove (I think, I was pretty young) that used to stand on the corner with his dog and wave at traffic.
