It's going to be on NBC. End of the contract. going out with a bang !

Ha ha. In prime time too. Likely the Today Show doing its morning show live from outside the arena and Lester Holt devoting the entire Nightly News to the game as well.

D'Antonio mentions that the CAA championship games will be broadcast by new partner this year -- hints strongly at ESPN being that network.

Contract not officially signed yet, but mentioned being proud of re-joining their championship week coverage.

Eh, I like Madizone; I think they do a good job. Give me Curt Dudley for play-by-play every game.

In addition we will probably have a few games added on ESPNU along with the championship (probably on 2 or U). Probably something like the MAAC has.

This is the full TV schedule as of now:

I've always thought CAA TV coverage is decent.

The problem, many CAA venues are horrible and the teams are branded even if the football on the field is good.

If it's ESPN, does JMU have the right to turn down the coverage? Been there, done that01-wingedeagle this season, why stop there?

Here's to hoping that the new TV contract will provide us with much needed revenues. Lord knows the student's fees are astronomical, and we need to lower them asap according to the VA state law (forgot the name of it - maybe Carr, but I think I'm confusing the FBS study with the limit on student fees thing)

EDIT: Cox bill. Figured it out!

You'll be hoping for awhile. There's no notable TV revenue outside of being in a P5 conference. Everyone else is just "lucky to be on TV"!

I thought I had read (perhaps in one of the Bourne Dialogues...not exactly sure) that we already meet the requirements set out in the Cox Bill.

After I read the article about the Knight Commission, it all started to come back to me. We meet for FCS, but I was thinking FBS.

For FCS we have and we are currently at 58% under the formula, so we would need to either cut costs or raise revenues to hit the 55% number for non P5 FBS.

RE: New CAA TV deal in the works
I don't know if I'd call that a TV deal, but rather a supported method for watching CAA.TV streaming other than through a web browser. Hopefully it'll work better from a reliability stand point.

RE: New CAA TV deal in the works
So how does Roku work? I assume set up is similar to Chromecast, but do I still need an ESPN subscription to use WatchESPN, or does my Roku account take care of that? Obviously Netflix, Hulu, etc are going to be extra, but what about the cable channels?

Not being much of a TV watcher, so how does Roku work? I know you need to by a Roku thingee but is there a monthly fee like Netflix or similar? have no idea how these new fangled gizmos work.

RE: New CAA TV deal in the works
No monthly fees for the Roku itself, but some of "apps" would have their own subscriptions (ex. Netflix, Hulu). Apps like WatchESPN would be free, but you would need a login, just like you were watching on your browser or phone.

The CAA app would be free (I'm assuming) and you wouldn't need to pay any subscription. If that's not the case then they screwed up . . Given that we're talking about Stretch here I wouldn't put it past them.

Overall this could work pretty well, but I'll reserve judgement to see how they implement it.
