MW to alter TV bonus payout
Chris Murray ‏@MurrayRGJ · 3h3 hours ago

MW looks to alter controversial TV deal by evening distribution outside of Boise, which would still get larger cut.

http://www.rgj.com/story/sports/college/.../87612700/

Per the agreement BSU is guaranteed $900k. The plan is to payout between the minimum to $1.8 million to BSU and the remaining bonus $$ is spilt 11 ways.

So better but still uneven.....

For conference stability they should have even pay across the board.

Its heading in that direction, but look for the next TV contract (if ESPN isn't part of it) to have null the BSU deal. Sounds like BSU is hearing the membership and is phasing out their deal.

That is good news for the MWC and anyone looking in that direction. It is a whole different thing when there is a "buy-in" period versus what the MWC has been doing.

Equal pay will go a long way to forming stronger conference bonds.

Boise State is more valuable than the rest of the MWC schools. Without them, the other schools could wind up getting paid like the C-USA.

The idea was interesting but in practice it didn't reward the stronger teams.
I think the bigger negotiations will be if BSU is keeping their minimum bonus of $900k + 1/11 of the rest.
Seems like it would like this. EPSN contract is $6 million. So after $900k is taking for BSU. Each school (including BSU) gets $463,000 roughly. BSU still getting their share puts them at $1.3 million for bonus but at least the rest get something.
Keep in mind the CBS contract is split even and each school gets $1 million/year from that.

No. They'll inquire about Big 12 membership but realistically, they know they don't have a serious chance...even with football only.
