ONLY if they can both get ACC Network carriage throughout Ohio and Texas, respectively - at full in-state subscription rates. Otherwise, NO.

There would have to be a lot of bad things that happen to the ACC for Houston to be invited.

No, adding Cincinnati and Houston at this stage would be a horrible decision.

Question to the OP -- what benefit do we get from adding those two, when the weakest P5 league (B12) doesn't want to add them...?

You only add schools if they bring an increase to the annual payout to the original 14 schools and generates an equal share to the two new additions. Those two probably do not.

Well, to put it bluntly:
Good luck convincing the majority of ACC School Presidents to agree to adding those two schools. 03-banghead

Maybe to Cincinnati. But I would rather not.

No to Houston. First, Houston has peaked. I know it is on top in AAC. But traditionally it is a doormat in a power conference like SWC. Second, it is too far away from the current ACC schools. Texas is the only school in Texas that ACC could consider adding. There are only people in the city of Houston rooting for them. Even so, there are more people in Houston rooting for Texas.

Houston should only come if Texas and 2-3 more B12 teams accompany them.

Too far away for 1 team...Jets only travel at 7 nm a minute

With all the above said, I would rather add Cincinnati and West Virginia. then have these two Divisions:

Boston College
Syracuse
Pittsburgh
Virginia Tech
West Virginia
Cincinnati
Louisville
Miami

Virginia
North Carolina
North Carolina State
Duke
Wake Forest
Clemson
Georgia Tech
Florida State

they don't? that's highly debatable

My thought process is that all conferences will eventually be at 16 teams as well....

Would Houston and Cincinnati boost anything with the TV deal?

I tend to think Terry is right in his thoughts that ND will not join the ACC in football (at least any time soon....one day Terry!)

Well, even without joining for football, here is more evidence that the association with ND is a big benefit to the ACC:

I know that Pitt, for one, charges more for ND home games than the others.

NC State is putting in temporary bleachers for its 10/8 home game against ND. Do they do that often?

Houston has peaked? hehe, I doubt that....they were able to retain a really good coach, and may even be headed to the Big XII

The only people that like Houston are in Houston? That's a substantial population....better than a lot of states

I just don't know what West Virginia adds besides a warm body....geographically they are a fit, but not much else...They don't have anything the ACC doesn't already have

No.

But, I say let the "Junior" league add them and let's find out.

If you go and read some of the current commentary, ESPN nor FOX is particularly excited about this round of Big XII expansion which likely involves Houston and Cincinnati.

The AAC's current deal, that involves both Houston and Cincinnati, is nothing to salivate over.

Why, then, would ESPN be excited about adding either to the ACC...? Makes no sense.

So..... no.

This brings up another point about expansion of the ACC. Right now every member plays ND twice every 6 years. Further expansion would change that.
