Sounds like a one game (maybe?) suspension.
he's not suspended, he just won't be starting @ ARK
Yeah, sounds like he'll dress but may not play.
I think some think with that wording he'll sit a series or a quarter. I think he should sit the whole game.

Sounded to me that it will depend on how seriously he takes his punishment and how he responds between now and the game. My personal opinion of Skip Holtz is one that I trust him to take the appropriate action for the player and the team.

lets just see how Price Wilson or J'Mar Smith does before completely writing off Higgins

I wouldn't completely write him off. I would for Arkansas though

Yeah, no way Higgins plays a snap in the Arkansas game.

Well, I think there is a way. But I think we'd all prefer it not to go down like that.

Obviously a mistake that Im sure he regrets, but it wasnt an violent offense like assaulting someone. Internal punishment, sit a quarter or whatever Holtz comes up with would be justified.

It wasn't a violent offense, but it was serious. It's a mistake that has caused life-altering harm and death to many people. It's not the worst thing he could have done, but his punishment needs to carry some weight.

Your understanding is the same as mine, USMbacker. The ball is firmly in Mr. Higgins' court at this time.

If he takes his punishment seriously, and does what he is supposed to do, and if he is the best QB we have at the time of the first game, I say let him play. Don't let him start, but if the game is winnable with Higgins, dont punish the rest of the team.
But make him sit out the entire next game if you let him play Arkansas. Sitting out of what should be an FCS stat-padding game is more of a punishment for the player than it is on the entire team. The team should* be able to handle Week 2 without Higgins.

The opponent shouldn't determine the punishment, IMO. If they let him play vs. Arkansas, let him play week 2 as well.

I was thinking the same thing but wasn't sure how to word it. I understand (not saying I agree) of not punishing the entire team but by suspending him against a lesser opponent is showing he is "bigger" than the team. IF this would've been a 3rd string or so player he would've been suspended or punished the first game regardless of the opponent so IMO the punishment shouldn't be based one who did the crime as it sets bad precedence for any possible future incidents.

I personally hope he doesnt play against Arkansas. I agree to setting the standards. I also hope one of the underclassmen comes through for us and is better than him anyway. I'd hate for him to lose the job entirely... I hope (for the team's sake) Wilson or one of the others end up being the better choice anyway.

This is a reason I never gloat over anything like this happening at another school. Lest I ever think my school is ever "above that" --- it happens everywhere. You're naïve to think otherwise. 18-22 yr old young men do what 18-22 yr old young men do. Sometimes they get caught, most times they don't. Ryan did. And he will pay, one way, or another.
I'm just thankful he WAS stopped, there was no collision, and there were no innocent lives lost.
Here-Here. How many times have we pulled STUPID stunts like this? I'll bet the majority. I know I'm guilty and I'm not proud, just stating a fact. No way will I do that again, I have my designated driver at all times, my wife, she doesn't drink.
Ah I'm sure quite a few of us haven't done something so stupid and reckless. Thankfully no one was injured and the cops got him off the road. Regardless of the punishment from the team, society is better with him learning a lesson. Lets hope he takes it to heart.

Change the mood a little. We at getting new press box/suites and OU signee WR Adrian Hardy has successfully transferred and is enrolled at Tech. Since he never attended any class he is immediately eligible. At 6'2-6'3 he will give us some needed length and height moving forward.
