Where is the Daily News Record?
The Richmond Times Dispatch and the Daily Progress have, in the past two days, printed JMU and FBS in the same sentence due to the Big 12 movement.

The DNR runs an article today..........about the CAA.

This blackballing never stops, it will never stop.

Coincidence that Bourne and the DNR editor are neighbors?

RE: Where is the Daily News Record?
The RTD and the Daily Progress are both Media General papers which are more or less recycling old speculation. I see nothing "new" to report -- nothing, really, has happened.

The Big 12 expanding and the conference trickle down that will follow is not worthy of a conference speculation article in a newspaper that is on the JMU campus?

The top 5 attended events in Rock town history are JMU football games...A new football stadium, a new baseball stadium, soccer, same....basketball coming........

The paper is reporting about the CAA, printing about Elon. Nothing about the last round of conference expansion.

You don't find this odd?

RE: Where is the Daily News Record?
Let's see what comes out of Media Day today. I think the DNR needs to step its game up and push story lines that put JMU in a more favorable light.

These stories could be picked up by other news outlets and help build awareness around the hidden gem with great potential that is JMU and JMU Athletics.

No, frankly, I'm sick of the whole speculation racket; we've been speculating for eons now. IF the Big 12 in fact expands, and more specifically IF that expansion results in vacancies in the AAC, CUSA or MAC, then I'll be interested. But at this point there's nothing to report.

The media's job is to report news, not to pass speculation.

There is no football reporter yet as far as I'm aware. No one else seems interested in asking those questions.

RTD and Daily Progress were the exact same article and featured 9 month old quotes. Not really "news"

What questions?
I am sure that the DNR picked up the AP story on the B12 announcing potential expansion. When they did so they reported the news. If the B12 follows through I am certain that they will report that too. Everything else is speculation. As 91 said, I am sick of the speculation. It belongs on message boards and facebook, not in print from actual news outlets.

Yes, it is speculation without any actual quotes from the decision makers. That's why you ask the questions about if JMU would be interested in a conference move. Yes we'd likely get the same company line, but that doesn't mean you stop asking about it when it's relevant.

Maybe the Daily News Record is on the same clock as the JMU admin, "Valley Time." The DNR maybe will get around to a JMU athletics article a day late and a dollar short, too many pictures of kids running through sprinklers to report on JMU athletic conference speculation.

...or is the DNR intentionally not talking about conference realignment?

Yes.

Imagine if Coach Brady had squeezed into that neighborhood instead of making sacrifices to send his kids to a catholic school.

Pitz - i loled. Exactly my reaction.

Hazed - it's a new writer putting his DNR shoes on. The only other writer that ever rattled the JMU cage and asked some tough questions that challenged some of the JMU administration's decision making died earlier this year. I think you're being overly critical. There's no news to report about JMU right now. 2 cents.
