Not celebratory. Merely pointing out the obvious flaws in the argument.

I remember that the same day of the Sandy Hook attacks, there was a story of a man in China who went through a school with a knife and stabbed over a dozen people. The difference was the fatality rate, which was much less than this incident. And, of course, there was a difference in the media coverage (noting that i did see the report of the China attack in the news media).

Chenpeng Village Primary School stabbing - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Quote:On 14 December 2012 between 7 and 8 a.m. local time, a 36-year-old villager identified as Min Yongjun[2] stabbed 24 people, including 23 children and an elderly woman

Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Quote:The Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting occurred on December 14, 2012, in Newtown, Connecticut, when 20-year-old Adam Lanza fatally shot 20 children aged between 6 and 7 years old, as well as six adult staff members.

If we succeeded in getting rid of guns (which laws won't do), then the MO would shift to other means, primarily IMO bombs. The IRA succeeded in creating a lot of mass deaths in a country where they were not allowed to have guns.
