So much for the 4 east schools being added but They are football first. Houston likely next because Texas says so. Reminds Me of TCU jumping in along with WVU getting picked up , shutting the others out. I would like all at 14 with the P5 personally.

BYU and BSU for football, UC and Houston all sports, that's what I'm going with at this early juncture.

RE: Looks like BYU is in....congrats!
If the expansion is to 12 I'd say BYU and Cincy since Cincy is "the leader in the clubhouse, but we don't have a clubhouse."

However, I expect 14 because of money. If the pro-rated money is $30 million a year (rough estimate, not intended to be exact), and the new schools are getting half up front (15), thats 60 million a year to divide between the original 10 - so $6 million a year at 4 new schools.

So at 14: BYU, Cincy and UConn/Houston

AAC backfills with Rice
CUSA plugs in NMSU

I'm starting to get confident that it's UM, UC, UH and BYU (FB only).

If it’s BYU for football only would there be a second FB only? 14 FB and 12 for Olympic sports is much cleaner.

Does this open the door to Boise FB only? Being an “associate member” could make the conference a bit more tolerant of their academic issues.

Boise State have a proven winners in 3 sports. Colorado State? Have not seen much of them getting much in it. Yes, basketball is okay just like Boise State, but their football is behind Boise, and I do not think they have wrestling like Boise. Big 12 wants schools with wrestling. Big 12 do need more wrestling members, and out of the schools that are top choices, only Boise State have the program.

Boise State could move their wrestling program from PAC 12 to the Big 12. They are the only ones from the top choices that have a wrestling program that the Big 12 really needs.

Would add Fresno State/SDSU to any BYU add.

Last week, just before the latest Big 12 meeting, I heard it was looking like Memphis and Cincy all sports, and BYU and Boise for FB only.

But then Texas jumped in with its political push from the gov. I think now that Houston will bump out Boise, making it an odd number of 13 in basketball.

But that's workable, b/c they don't use divisions in basketball.

lol boise state. it really shows how much this board really knows about this whole process.

Boise state, the school with horrific academics, built off kids who couldnt get into pac 12 schools academically, in a horrible recruiting area, and terrible tv market.

i dont care about wins and losses, neither does realignment. realignment is focused on the future, 10, 20 , 30 , 50 years in the future. not now

That is what I was thinking. If Big 12 wants a western football only to go with BYU, SDSU would be the easiest to accomplish due to the Big West

If the driver for the Big 12's sudden 180 on expansion is what the ACC did, and therefore I assume they want to copy it, then I don't see why BYU would be football only.

They send all the non-revenue sports out to WV now, and BYU has a solid bball program (probably some other solid programs too). So why not to Utah as well? SLC is a hub for Delta and also has service with Southwest and American.

Also not convinced why it would be 14 instead of just 12.

Doubt that BYU is in. I don't think the Big 12 is going to lower themselves to having a football only affiliate. No other power conference has a football affiliate.

What makes this guy the definitive source for what's happening in the Big XII? Is he calling the shots? If he says it, it must be true?

Utah Valley and Wyoming are already in the Big12 for wrestling. They can be added as an affiliate.

The Big 12 has 10 schools for wrestling. They don't *need* any more.

Besides, doesn't the fact that, as you point out, NONE of the other schools being talked about have wrestling kind of deflate your argument that wrestling is so important to them that they'll take Boise State in all sports?
