New TV partner for Sun Belt Conference
Karl Benson announced during Sun Belt media day that the conference had a new TV partner that would broadcast 10 Sun Belt football games this fall plus additional Sun Belt sporting events this year. The new conference TV partner will be formally announced later this week or the first of next week when the final details are worked out. Benson also stated that these 10 games will also be available on ESPN3 or WatchESPN.

Is Southland Conference on ASN as well? Would be nice to create a Arkansas State Vs Central Arkansas football game every year. They used to be instate rivals at one time in all sports.

Yes, the Southland Conference is on ASN for some games. In addition, the conference has agreements with ESPN (with games on ESPN3) and Cox Sports TV. ESPN has first choice.

Some universities in the conference have separate agreements with networks. For example, all Stephen F. Austin and Lamar home football games as well as those for other sports are carried on ESPN3 unless otherwise contracted as part of the conference package.

The Southland package with ASN is via a syndicate of tv stations. It's pretty good, but the first year missed some of the large cities. The conference's own station syndicate was much more extensive. Hopefully, ASN's group of stations will improve this season.

Back to the Sun Belt Conference's package, I hope the Sun Belt has a good experience with ASN...if that's the network. It would be better for me if it is with beIN. I get that with my AT&T UVerse sports package. 04-cheers

We're going to play UCA and UAPB every few years or so, and will probably continue to play UCA in basketball

But lets be clear, we don't see UCA as a rival, nor do we have any desire to make them a rival. They are a nice nearby road game for us in Olympic Sports, and a sure good crowd in football. Nothing more.

Since CUSA doesn't get anything from ASN, neither will the Sunbelt. But it will be great additional exposure and to watch games on OTA TV whether is on one of the Sinclair .1 stations or .2, .3 sub-channels.
ASN is making inroads on the sub-channels for the 24hr network.

Every year won't happen. We will only play one FCS a year and UAPB will get equal shot (play UCA this year, UAPB next year) and if neither can accommodate the date we want, we will call SEMO or Missouri State to see if they can.

What I am talking about was that when they were in the NAIA, they were in the same conference as UAPB, Lyon, Hendrix, UCA, Southern Arkansas, UAM, Arkansas Tech, Ozarks, Harding, Henderson State and so forth. They were the first one to moved up to the NCAA and to D1. It could be nice to have an instate rival games every year like Colorado and Colorado State. Arkansas thinks they are too good to associate with Arkansas State.

I doubt it. ESPN already owns all the Sunbelt TV rights. Thus, any money for the ASN purchase (assuming they paid anything at all beyond production costs) would flow to ESPN. My guess is the deal is ASN produces the games for their network and ESPN-3 gets free programming by mirroring the ASN feed.
