I can't believe a coach would be so stupid. This can't help with mom's when it comes to recruiting. Every school they recruit against will have a printout of this.

Its a terrible joke. I don't see a reason for outrage, though. And I was not exactly a Gran fan.

EDIT: I did not see where he made said terrible joke.

He is an idiot.

I expect he will shortly be apologizing and be signed up for sensitivity training or stonewall it and say "At this time what difference does it make".

Haha. Good edit. If he had made the joke at a practice and it leaked out, it would still have been a dumb joke, but wouldn't have been as big of a deal.

I'm not PC, so I'm only offended from a comedy standpoint and I don't hold it against him. But as much as I hate to feed into the pc mentality, you've got to know when to pick your battles and this surely wasn't it. That's simply not going to play well to some in that audience nor to a wider one if it gets out as it has.

Knowing Gran, he'll keep telling that joke, over....and over...and over again. He'll tell it at Church. He'll tell it at his kid's "What Does Your Parent Do?" day at school. He'll tell that joke at his wife's dinner party.

From what I understand, he's divorced and doesn't have any kids.

I guess they should've added "Amateur Shock Comedian."

His wife divorced him while at UC and moved her and their kids back south, didn't want to live the coaching lifestyle anymore. I can only imagine how crushing that would be. Considering what they went through with a kid dying, I know that's extremely stressful on a marriage.

As for the joke, we all have misses sometimes. If you're looking for a reason to be offended you won't have any problem finding it.

I still want an explanation for this. I mean, a rudimentary understanding of physics should have told him to maybe attempt something different. Numerous failed attempts at that same play, should tell him to try something different. I seriously want to know how a college football coach can justify that.

I'm not mad or upset about it. I'm just really confused by it, and want to know his thought process. It's intriguing.

I think he came in with an sec state of mind. At the time ole miss and another team that escapes me were using their 180 lb tb the same way. He had the scheme picked out and ralph was the best rb hence the repeated play.

Yeah, some coaches run their "system" and recruit to it (sometimes suffering early) and some find a system that fits their talent. The 2nd is rare. Good observation Rosewater.
