conference realignment
UAB would definitely be on a short list to join the AAC if several from the AAC join the Big XII. Can't say anything with this administration is a slam dunk, but if there are as many as 3-4 that leave the AAC, then UAB will be among those invited to the AAC.

That would make me feel better if Mackin was the one responsible for anything

RE: conference realignment
CUSA needs to stay at 12 and keep more money once this happens. I think AAC scoops southern miss and GA STATE

About .089% chance of AAC taking Georgia State.

"The most commonly mentioned expansion schools include BYU, Houston, Cincinnati, Memphis, UConn, UCF, Colorado State, South Florida and Boise State."

If they take Memphis, Houston, and U Conn what's the upside of going to AAC. Besides jockeying to go to the ACC or bigger conference.

RE: conference realignment
Word is that if Big 12 takes Cincy, Houston, and Memphis, UConn may look to move their basketball back to the Big East and try to find another conference for football. But the question is, "Who would take UConn without thir basketball?...

So, in these low-probability scenarios CUSA loses 6 teams:

Big 12 takes BYU, Cincy, Houston, Memphis
UConn leaves AAC
AAC takes SMiss, ODU, Marshall, & ?
MWC takes Rice and UTEP

or

Big 12 takes BYU, Cincy, Houston, Colorado State
UConn leaves AAC
AAC takes SMiss, ODU, Marshall
MWC takes Rice, UTSA, and UTEP

RE: conference realignment
I believe UAB is behind ODU, Marshall, USM, and possibly Charlotte and GSU on the AACs list should they expand. If Marshall and USM leave for the AAC and UTEP and Rice leave for the MWC then every original CUSA team and every CUSA version 2.0 team will have left CUSA for an improved conference with the exception of UAB.
