The "Adult" thread
Busy weekend for sure but it was interesting and the conversation was under par. The lady whose husband has ALS is a dentist and employs 16 people out of her practice. Even with the troubles she has had and her life experiences she told me the problems she has with Obamacare. It was eye opening and it was nice to talk politics with empathy and understanding. It was a time and place where I really wanted to get to know the person and just listened. I need to go and I'll be back later tonight but please tell me some of you who can add 2+2 are just a little concerned that Trump says he would abandon NATO and the next week Russia releases the DNC hack. That has to be somewhat concerning. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Trump did not say he would abandon NATO. He said that he would expect our NATO allies to pay their fair share and hold their feet to the fire if they didn't. I thought democrats were into paying fair shares.

Welcome back, Mach, hope you had a great weekend. You are one of the good guys on here, even though we usually disagree.

RE: The "Adult" thread
Trump has already forced Nato into creating a terrorism division, something that had been missing and was being used as an excuse for why Nato was not getting involved with Isis.

There is nothing wrong with having other partners pay their fair share.

In order to formulate a fair deal, you have to be willing to walk. If we are never willing to walk, we will always get screwed. History has shown this to be true.

If you dont agree with this, then you are ok with America being the worlds big-stick and paying for all of it at the same time.

Not concerned at all. We are not bailing out of NATO. That is rubbish and is a negotiating tool. Now the U.N. I'd be all for getting the heck out of dodge.

Tell me you are concerned with what has been released so far. The emails coming out make me want to take a shower when I think of how close that cadre was to running the country. The ick factor is yooooge. What will be released later will be decided on its own merits. My guess it will get progressively worse for these folks whose default reaction is to lie and hide the truth.

Do any of you think the RNC wasn't actively running against Trump? I'm more concerned about Putin influencing our elections. That doesn't even in some small way give you pause? Imagine what we would read in the RNC catalogue. A crazy election get crazier.

I'm sure they were. However, they didn't succeed. I've been saying all along that I hope the RNC implodes and reorganizes as a small government conservative group.

the people voting republicans have been purging establishment hacks for the past few years. the people voting republican were well prepared to ignore the establishment games and money this time. And Reince appeared, from the beginning, to not want to be a part of any shenanigans.

democrats werent. so they got played again, and only wised up when it was too late.

1) Yes
2) Hillary approved deal to allow Russian company to mine uranium inside
the USA. They made a donation north of 100 Million to the Clinton Foundation.

Wait...now liberals are concerned about foreign governments and organizations buying influence via donations? Oh this is too rich. Welcome to the party. Better late than never!

Yes I believ they were conspiring against Trump. Difference is that Im not in the tank for the GOP. About 75% of them make me want to vomit. Plenty of posters here are on record that the GOP needs to clean house. Trump also won despite the conspiring which I find pretty ******* awesome.

Russia...lolz. Possible but not likely as Hillary is their bigger friend.

I saw one of what was likely many such interviews... and essentially the reporter kept trying to get some specific answer, and Trump kept trying to avoid a specific answer (why would you ANNOUNCE such a thing?)

If your support is unconditional (as a parent) then your 'child' can do anything and you'll still abide by it. They can invest all their money (that they aren't paying us) in businesses in Russia, and then expect us to bail them out. Our support for NATO is not unconditional. There doesn't have to be a line in the sand in order to know that there will ultimately be consequences... or should be. We are owed a debt by many of these countries, and they need to start paying us back.

Choose Estonia... We could still support Estonia against Russia because it is in OUR interests, or the interests of other Nato members... but not because of our obligations to Estonia... meaning we will support them OUR way, not theirs.

Supporting a country through NATO means that we are subject to NATOs rules and votes and preferences and control. Doing it because it is in OUR interests, we are not.

RE: The "Adult" thread
If Trump becomes President, I wouldn't expect one degree of shift in the US position with NATO. Maybe he'll push for greater financial support (which he should) and greater manpower commitments (which he should).

And I suspect he will do a positive reset on Israel and increase our support.

I think that Putin is worried about Trump because Vlad doesn't know what to expect. I can't imagine Trump sending a message that he would be "more flexible" on foreign policy.

Our Foreign Policy Relationships will rise again with the world in a positive way. As for Putin or any other perceived enemies , Trump would keep everyone in check and regain respect for the USA.

If you know people in rural areas, you would know that his plan was going to cause problems in those areas. But then Democrats are heavily in urban areas and consider the rest "flyover country." Its hard to find doctors who will take new medicare patients. The best ones won't. Some don't take any medicare. Same issue with nursing homes. It just doesn't pay enough for it to be worth it to them.

I think we need to stop saying "will" and "would" and start using "can" and "could".

Didn't it bother You that Obama gave in to a Russian Allie in Iran, without so much a whimper ,but was only given a Promise that will be very hard to enforce ? And He gave relief to Cuba, also a Russian Allie with nothing in return either . Those are real issues and Not some fantasy about Russia controlling Our elections.
