Not saying I fault him, Im saying NIU needs to reconsider how it is hiring individuals for AD.

so the top criteria to be the NIU AD is a commitment as to how long he will stay there. As far as attd. it's dropping in more places then us.

No one is taking or even talking about Carey for head coaching jobs. So many open head coaching opportunities last year and Carey didn't get a sniff.

We don't know that for sure. A lot of that stuff is kept quiet and done on the DL. I know there was a lot more activity going on with PJ vs what was out there publicly

Yordon knows the business side. Unfortunately, college athletics is also about having contacts within the profession. We need Yordon and other successful alumni for their business acumen though. College athletics has become big business.

We need our very own Fedex, Under Armour, Nike, Boone Pickens, or some company or very wealthy alumni to heavily back and invest in us.

With how little money we have the best, and maybe only, way would be to have the position filled with a successful NIU alumnus. We need someone who is invested in transforming NIU for the long-haul because this is THEIR university. As long as we keep pulling in outsiders (which has worked fine so far) we will continue to lose them due to money.

I remember reading something in the paper or somewhere that Trump actually was praising NIU back in like 2003 or so. It was about some business class that helped sell FB tickets.

The college of business offered a course based on his show The Apprentice. Wish they would have kept it, would have loved to take it!

In April 2016 the conservative online publication Heat Street reported that based on internal emails reviewed by itself and National Review, the university had suffered significant damage to its reputation and image over its handling of the protests. This was reflected in a barrage of highly critical correspondence from alumni, donors and the families of current and prospective students attacking what was perceived as the administration's unwarranted deference to campus extremists. According to the report there has been a sharp decline in donations, particularly to the athletic department where donations were down by 72%. Enrollment in the freshman class also dropped by around 25% and the article asserted that some current students were considering transferring to other schools.[72]

GCD, if you're talking about Mizzou I believe they have also closed up to 4 dorms because of the drop in attendance.

The AD leaves for Baylor. Baylor! ###ing Baylor! That's how bad Mizzou is. They will become the punching bag of the SEC.

The main criteria for the next AD..someone who wants to be a Huskie. I don't care who knows a few more high level donors or who can grease the wheels a little more. I want someone that wants to be here. Tired of selfish ADs who put themselves before the university they serve. I'll tell you one thing that us cellular game is a punch in the face right now. He was desperate to fill the resume out and it will cost us a win vs key divisional rival

He hasn't left yet....

He is throwing his name on every opening that comes up. Good riddance is all I have to say. Let's get someone in here that will work for the university We haven't had an AD in here that loved the university since groth. What a coincidence, that's the last time people attended NIU sporting events

Well, you're going to be mad for a very long time. As long as NIU is in the G5 any successful coach or athletic admin will be auditioning for bigger jobs. If our admins and coaches are wanted by bigger schools, something is going terribly wrong.

Something is terribly wrong now. I understand what you are saying, but a balance has to be struck. Its becoming clear to me the seemingly best candidate on paper is not necessarily the best candidate for the school. I am not saying hiring one is an easy job, but we have to change how we are currently hiring ADs and consider some other factors

It does not matter if you hire young or old, experienced or inexperienced, man or woman, niu grad/insider or outsider. When someone is offered a better job, more money they are taking. NIU and DeKalb is not a dream place to stay for ANYONE.

RE: Frazier Primed for Mizzou
Some posts from tigerboard.com....

-I saw on Twitter it is the ad from northern Iowa....could be a good tie to their basketball coach as well if need be

-I assume you're talking about Sean Frazier. He's from Northern Illinois, not Northern Iowa.

-Northern Illinois has a hoops coach that I think will be at P5 within the next 2-3 years. But he had been hired at UNI prior to Frazier

-he has completely built that program They were terrible when he took over. Won 20 games last year, a rarity at UNI.

-But there should be a huge difference between rebuilding MU and UNI, sorry to play down UNI, but recruiting to UNI should be way down the line from recruiting to MU

Maybe we do need to reconsider a name change. 03-banghead03-weeping
