I could easily see North Carolina going from the 10th to 5th most populous state in 10 years at the clip we're growing. Charlotte and Raleigh so show no signs of stopping. According to this Forbes article they are both top 5 in fastest growing cities in the country with Raleigh being #1.

The rest of NC isn't exactly stagnant either. ECU isn't just Greenville, it's now the 2nd largest school in the state, and student population comes from all over the state.

You do realize this article is 3 years old right.... As of 2016 raleigh's growth has stagnated and they are now ranked #24 in growth while Houston is number 3.

http://www.citymayors.com/gratis/uscities_growth.html

Now look a little closer at the article you posted. Raleigh is listed #24 in growth, Durham 46th (aka Raleigh-Durham), and Cary NC a suburb of Raleigh is listed 47th. Trust me man, this area is exploding and it's not stopping.

I don't think anyone should compare Raleigh to Houston. With that said, the majority of the Raleigh market (and growth) is in the surrounding cities of Raleigh and not Raleigh itself. Durham and Cary are 46th and 47th on that list and only two of the numerous heavily growing cities in the Raleigh market.

Well he said raleigh was the fastest growing city in america but according to this houston was #1 in 2015.

First hit that came up on Google. Houston has never had a market issue. ECU has, the fact is ECU grads encompass the state of NC. This state is one of the faster growing "large" states in the country. 10th currently, won't surprise me at all to see us surpass Georgia and Ohio.

Time will tell.

Why buy into it?

Max Kellerman (sp) got the old Skip job LOL.

Great, another sports opinion I don't care about.

In fairness, they could talk about Hillary and Donald Trump and they'd be just as credible as the fools on CNN, Fox, and MSNBC.

Cable TV is dying a painful death. Without live sports and my local news while I cook dinner (or watch my wife do so..fine I admit it...she doesn't let me help outside of the grill), it's worthless as hell

And even then...

Anyone that has WORKED in college football for even a short time...or a long time like Finebaum, is familiar with ECU...and most even know what State its located in...including Finebaum.

Finebaum was just "piling on" insulting ECU with the Big Ten/P5/Northwestern Grad Host.

Are there really any ECU Fans who BELIEVED what Finebaum actually said today? (i.e. didn't know what state ECU was located in?)

Knightlight..........you've been here awhile as have I, do you really think that I thought that Cinnabaum didn't really know about ECU and it's location. My point was to show he's a douche that talks out of both sides of his skeleton mouth at the same time.

ECU is one of my second favorite teams, even way back in the day ,,,, Had some ECU alum as friends who moved to Memphis
Many great memories... Before Dad passed we would tailgate and laugh, toss the football... and rag on my Ecu friends and they would rag on us... I don't remember all the scores even if we won or lost , just great times.

He's trolling ECU and he knows damn well it's good fodder for him. He's well aware of ECU, which is exactly why he picked ECU to trash. He's built a career off of doing this type of stuff. What he wants (and what he knows he'll get) is legions of angry ECU fans calling in and tweeting at him. All great trolls know you don't bother trolling those who don't care, you specifically target those who care too much.

I do think that basketball has been an anchor tied around our necks for a long time. Wolf is right. It kills our value and keeps us from having a brand outside of ENC. NITs with a sprinkling of NCAAs would've done the trick for us at some point. It would've overshadowed our market issues, our alumni earning issues, ugly pressbox, and all that other stuff.

Yes, someday you'll have a basketball program as steeped in history and success as UCF and it will no longer hold you back 03-wink

Those guys shouldn't be laughing. ECU would actually be a great football only pick for the Big 12. Great game day vibe at ECU.

Lebo pretty much guarantees that ECU won't get grabbed for all sports, though. He has to go. I wonder where ECU would be in the Big 12 expansion race if they had shown commitment to basketball by canning Lebo last year.

This is how high I set the bar for basketball.

SportsCenter Host & Finebaum laughing on air about ECU AD Comments
(07-24-2016 09:21 AM)KnightLight Wrote:  Wow!

On this am ESPN SportsCenter...Host read the following comments made by ECU's AD:

"I believe strongly East Carolina deserves to be in the Big 12 as we can deliver the entire state of North Carolina."

Finebaum said the AD should go into politics because he is making speeches/comments that he can't back up with facts....Finebaum mentions the 4 ACC Schools plus the "border" schools in South Carolina...

Host is laughing in hysterics...when he can barely say "ECU couldn't even deliver the greater Greenville area"...

Finebaum then said "I live in North Carolina...and until you read that statement, I had no idea that school was even IN North Carolina."

While some of their cracks weren't that factual...it was a major embarrassment attack at ECU.

In regards to expansion...Finebaum said Big 12 maybe shouldn't expand...but if they do...BYU makes the best fit (even if its not a good fit..."its a million miles away"), then mentions all the other candidates..(UCONN, Memphis, Cinci, UCF and Houston).

We all need to email Aresco about how our TV partner is treating one of our schools.
