HOW???
I'm an NIU alum and work for their athletics, i have family who graduated and played for tOSU and they beat up on the Illini so that's always nice to see, and one of my very good friends goes to UC and i make it a point to attend a UC game at least once a year so they've become one of my teams. That explanation enough?

I like you Stay cool and if we are conference mates it will be a pleasure to have you.
AAC is a good conf in the future too.
I kinda like the Huskie as it is now... but maybe I'm biased. We did just update our field turf logo to show our proximity to Chicago so i guess that's a start?

But in all honesty it'd be an honor sharing a conference with the likes of ECU, UCONN, UC, UH, Memphis, and the rest of the AAC that doesn't get scooped up by the B12. Those are some seriously quality schools compared to the crap we have to schedule for conference play now... EMU, CMU, Ball St, Akron, Kent St, etc...

I was all in for NIU until you forgot to mention Temple in your acceptance speech.

Sorry to read this column in Daily Chronicle: "From Top to Bottom, NIU Athletics Not Ready for Jump to AAC". Dont know if the columnist is a hack, or credible.

The AAC strategy appears to be football and markets. I think NIU has a puncher's chance. Army would be first, NIU second if we don't try to court MWC teams.

Temple might be our rivalry game if it happens. Former MAC teams slugging it out

He's a former oregon st beat reporter who just started writing for NIU maybe a few weeks or a month or so ago. Not the best source of info or opinion

NIU has the same problem ECU has/had every time they've applied to conferences... only NIU doesn't have ECU's football attendance.

The other sports (namely basketball) suck hard because they don't care about them. They want charity.

NIU and ECU are the Arnold Horshacks of conference realignment.

You could include Southern Miss with that group, although USM has had a bit more success in basketball than both, but not as good football attendance as ECU.

These boards seem biased to the east coast schools. Both the Big XII and the AAC are possibilities for NIU The President and AD at Northern are doing a terrific job despite Illinois' budget woes. No program has a better record in football the past 6 years. NIU's academics are outstanding with GPA and graduation rate for athletes among the best. Then there's access to the Chicago market. Either conference would benefit from adding NIU.

My begging is more of just it being my schtick, but the AAC certainly does outclass the MAC and it'd be the ideal landing spot if we get passed over by the B12

What are the chances Toledo gets a look and if they dont, what are the reasons?

We seem to have the facilities and attendance so I'm interested in our shortcomings. I may be asking the wrong person but you seem to be pretty connected to what's going on in the MAC
